Apparently it's not a shortage but just to restrict people buying in bulk then exporting to china. They've recently had a scandal of contaminated baby milk so are taking lots of aptamil and c&g in.
My mum, in her typical panicking fashion, rang me telling me to go out to tesco and buy some tonight. I so hope people aren't like her and don't start panic buying as there appears to be absolutely no need. Needless to say, I haven't gone out and bought any.
Personally even when lo was v young I never bought more than 2 boxes at a time so I don't think it should pose a problem for anyone.
Suggests on here that production is being increased to meet demand from china so would expect that stock shouldn't dwindle too much.

Knowing our country and the recent stupidity of creating a fuel shortage before a strike had even been agreed, I expect panic buying to commence in full force. So bloody annoying.
This post is really interesting! Our local Asda store hasn't had any Aptamil first milk for weeks. I couldn't understand why they never seem to have any of the Aptamil tubs there anymore so now if makes sense after reading this! Hope they do increase the stock although my LO is ready to switch to cows milk soon.
I saw this in sainsburys last week and thought it was strange, like people are gonna just roll up to the checkout with 50 tubs of aptamil! I only ever buy one at a time when I need it! D
I think its ridiculous, what if you had twins or triplets? If the case is their reducing stock ill switch to SMA or something, something I know I can get. I never panick buy either but my local shop and my local 24 hour asda has ran out a few times.
Sure there might be contaminated milk in china but there are other babies out in the world. Aptamil should be stretching their resources considering its the dearest formula milk to buy.
My husband said to take 2 to one checkout and 2 to another but surely we would run out alot quicker.
I'm going to speak to aptamil experts on their online website and ask what's going on, we go on honeymoon and were only planning on taking one tub but if the case is we can't get it there ill need to take more!
I've noticed this in our local asda for a few weeks. We normally buy 6 tubs at once a long with a months worth of nappies and other bits. Just works better for us as i know we always have some in.
I noticed this today too, I usually buy 3 or 4 tubs at a time as my LO is on comfort milk and my local small sainsburys doesn't stock it, so I get a few tubs with my big monthly tesco shop, will just have to get the 2 tubs and buy more when I'm out shopping at boots!
I didn't think it was just Aptamil and C&G, I think it's sma too.
Why don't the manufacturers just start selling it in China, think they are missing a trick.
I've just phoned boots chemist in Glasgow airport and she has nothing in stock too! Plan was take one tub in our suitcase and one in our hand luggage. She says its running rapidly out and she's running out of the ready made stuff too now! X
I'm lucky, my LO will have any of the C&G ones (1, 2 or 3) without it upsetting his tummy so when they've run out of 1, I just get a different one. The other day though my local morrisons had run out of every C&G! Its ridiculous really.
