Hey ladies,

I was wondering whether anyone has any experience with this? My friend has lost 2 stone in 10 weeks and is looking fab! I was wondering whether anyone else has tried it and could give me and insight...pros/cons etc!

many thanks.

yes. I was on LT and lost over 5 stone.

It is a fab diet if (and it's a big if) the timing is right in your life, you are absolutely 100% motivated and self disciplined to stick to it to the letter.

The hardest part of it is the first few weeks when you feel pretty rotten. You can have carb withdrawal and feel flu like and get headaches. Once Ketosis kicks in, it gets much easier but it's getting through those first few days which is difficult. After your first weigh in, the huge first weeks weght loss ( my freind lost 16lbs, I lost 9lbs) motivates you for another week and after a couple of weeks you will usually lose about 3-4lbs a week averaging 1 stone a month for women and 1.5st for men.

It's thorough a pharmacy as I suppose you know and you have to visit the pharmacy every week for a weigh in and your weeks supply of food.

I would go on LT again but as I said, the timing in your life has to be right. If it's not..forget it.

Having said all that, I have heard that the Cambridge diet is a better option as it's about the same price and there are more flavours to choose from. With LT the cereal bars are vile. There is only choc, vanilla and strawberry shakes and chicken soup. The chicken soup I found quite horrid as well.

ETA: I hope I'm allowed to advise this. If not apologies to the admin and mods on here...Have a look at the weighloss forum Minimins. It has a really good support section on it for both LT and Cambridge diet and it may help you to make your decision.

I bought a product similar (exante) and i couldnt do it the bars and soups and shakes were enough to make me gag when eating them!
but you should try it cause you never know you might like it :)

Thank you for replying girls! I think I will give it a try. I suppose anything is worth trying at least once. Hoolie 5 stone is fabulous - welldone! How long did it take you to loose that? Im only looking to loose about 2 - 2.5stone - just to get me to my healthy BMI.

thanks again for replying. :)

that should take about 7 weeks as the first week you lose a shed load. The first week is the hardest and that is the week you lose a lot on. But you have to bare in mind that you will lose about 7lbs of liver reserves which will replace immediatley you come off LT unless you follow the re-feed specifications to the letter. You have to re-introduce carbs back into your diet in a certain order and quantity. If you do this, you'll at most put on 2 lbs.

It took me about 5 months to lose it and I was heading towards the 6 stone mark. A word of caution though, it does make you more fertile. The weight lose combined with all the folic acid in the shakes, means it's not uncommon for pregnancies. In fact I unexpectedly fell pregnant on it so take extra care.

Oh and you won't do yourself any harm by cutting down on your carbs for a week before you go on it. I did this and the first week was much easier for me than my friend who went straight on it. She felt ill all week. The payback was that she lost 16lbs and I lost about 9lbs but I'd lost a bit before hand as I was loosely using slimfast to get my body prepared for it.

Make sure you drink your water.
