The past 2 weeks have been crazy between giving birth, moving into our new house, and tending to a newborn with a cold for the past 3 days, there hasn't been much time to update but I have found the time to do that, now!

On the morning of November 20 (at 39 weeks, exactly), around 7 am, I was awoken by a contraction that was vastly different from the braxton hicks I had for months. I quickly realized they were coming every 3-5 minutes and this had to be the real thing, I let SO know then went to take a shower; after we decided we'd wait until my appointment at 1030. The contractions became more intense but were tolerable. We went to the appointment and I quickly informed my midwife about the contractions, she didn't hesitate to do a cervical check, I was 5 centimeters and she sent me straight to the hospital. We got there about 1115, where I did my paperwork, changed, and waited on my sister and mother to join SO and I- we decided to start walking, bouncing on the ball, and sitting with my legs as far apart as possible to try and get things moving. My midwife let me labor naturally while she handled the other appointments she had through out the day. When she came back to the hospital, shortly after 4, she decided it was time to break my water, as I was already 7 cm and we wanted to get things moving. It took another hour for the contractions to pick up and intensify. She came back at 6 for another check and we were at a 9, and at this point the contractions were unbearable because of my back labor but there was nothing we could do, except have my SO push our daughter's head off of my spine and rub my back through contractions. Within a half an hour we were ready to push! A good hour of hard pushing later, we brought our wide eyed, perfect little girl into the world at 735 pm.

We named her MaKinley Grace Comstock and she weighed in at 7lbs, 13 oz and 20 in long. I couldn't imagine life without her in that moment. They placed her right onto my belly and we quickly put her on my chest, skin to skin, and nursed. I could not have had a better experience and am so grateful her daddy was there and not in West Virginia, working, for her birth. :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Oh my goodness, she is adorable!
Congratulations :)
I love her name! Did you decide to name her when she was born or did you have the named already picked out?
She is beautiful!

We had her named before birth, it always felt right and I feel it was perfect for her after birth- it just fits! Thank you:flower:
