Liverpool Women's or Countess of Chester hospital?

Hi,

I am after some opinions please as I need to make a decision.
After nearly 3 years and 2 losses, one of which was twins, my doctor has decided to refer me to a specialist.
I received my letter and I have three hospitals to choose from:- I have narrowed it down to two and would just like some help in deciding which is best.

A bit more about me, I have just turned 37 and have a BMI well over 30 (I mention this as I know some hospitals have an issue if you are classed as obese)

Has anyone used either of these hospitals? Have a preference? Any useful information I will need?

Any help will be appreciated as I need to make a decision and make my appointment soon.

Hi there, just seen your message. I am sorry about your losses, I had a miscarriage in Jan at 11 weeks. About your choices in hospitals, I have a couple of friends who have had recurrent miscarriages and went to Liverpool womens. A consultant called Roy Farquharson, apparantly he is a lovely man, they both have 2 children now. He was on this morning a few years ago about new pioneering treatment for women who miscarry with a lady who had had so many miscarriages she had given up hope. She had a little girl. I know quite a few people who have had 2 miscarriages and gone on to have healthy children. I had my little boy at the womens and they were fab. Not sure about the other two. Hope this helps x

Hi. Firstly im sorry to hear of your losses. I have lost 2 babies too
I am now in the 2ww following our 2nd cycle of IVF at the womens.
Personally i have found them to be very good. Very caring and good service but, if you are a NHS patient your bmi has to be 30 or below to receive funding and you need to be 37 or under as far as i am aware. If you dont fit the criteria you can still have treatment but you would have to pay and also chances of meds working are less when BMI is a lot over 30 so to maximise chances try to lose some weight.
I know its hard to do as i had to do it too. Good luck to you xxx

we have been to chester but now being sent to liverpool due to funding as we live in north wales. now waiting next appointment from liverpool to start icsi and for genetic info

Hey there fellow north Wales lady I don't know if its an option for you but shrewsbury reproductive centre has the best success rates for assisted reproduction in the UK and our area does allow us to be treated there if we wish (not sure where you are in north Wales so it may not be the same for you) I really hope you get your bfp soon x

I'm at the women's after being at Warrington and they are lovely. I'm waiting on my bmi to be at 30 so we can have ivf. A friend of mine on here went for treatment there too and she is due about now too. Great place to be x

Now had our appointment for Liverpool for 5weeks times. More waiting but hopefully be worth it in the end!
