So I live in a small community that is based just outside a large military installation. Much of the population is military.
Earlier in the week, a young first time mama was breastfeeding her baby while waiting for her pizza to be delivered to her table at a local pizza restaurant. When it was delivered the waitress (and owner of the restaurant) demanded they the mother feed her baby in the bathroom. When the mama reused, she was told that if she wouldn't cover herself, she would have to leave, so she and her small family packed their food and left. Our local group banded together in outrage. We organized nurse in for August 1, we left bad review for the business's Facebook page. A few even contacted local news groups and tonight the story will be aired localy. In Louisiana, mothers are protected by laws. You may nurse, covered or uncovered, in any place, public or private.
I feel the need to share this incident, which is rapidly growing in notoriety. If you are passionate about nursing, passionate about protecting rights, passionate about your babies, please share in your own social network. I'm heartbroken for this mama to experience this but SO glad that she had the bravery to make her experience known and hopefully helping to alleviate incidents like this in the future, if only a little, because every little bit makes a difference.

I'll be posting links. Informative on top and less so underneath. Share what you will and let's try to spread the word!! Please mamas!

I might post more as the story goes. The new interview airs tonight so I imagine I'll post a link to the web interview when I can. Thanks for any sharing you can do, thanks for reading, and YAY FOR NURSING OUR BABIES.

I just started a blog for THIS. Shaming in feeding your baby in any form. That's horrific. Do you mind if I post this story on my blog for other mothers to see? Ill also PM you. Ill absolutely spread the word!! :)
