Last week I went into what was looking like PTL after hours of regular contractions... thankfully I'd already been taking progesterone and got my steroid shots after discovering my irritable uterus had shortened my cervix to 0.8 cm, so I wasn't dilating. After 3 days in hospital, they let me go home.

Needless to say, it's been an emotional roller coaster since I got home. I've had tons of extra, clear runny discharge since starting the progesterone (& confirmed to not be AF)... and the past few nights, I've had bouts of regular contractions with sharp cramping. After a few hours, they seem to slow down, but they're still pretty much at a constant. It's these sharp pains that I've never had before that worry me... and I just worry that it's not going to stop one of these days.

Hoping some of you have some advice you could share... thank you.

I don't really have any experience with your situation as we were not able to stop my labor but I do know this... At 29 weeks, your little one already has a chance of not having any major health issues if born now. Every week, every day, every hour your baby stays inside gets him closer to a healthy birth so celebrate every day. Try and relax (I know that is a hard a thing to do), rest lots, drink lots of water (this is very important!), stay off your feet as much as possible, and think positive thoughts.

If it helps to set your mind a little bit at ease... my daughter was born at 23 1/2 weeks and is doing just fine (with the exception of weak lungs). It was a long hard 4 month NICU stay but at almost a year and half she is perfect, happy, right on track for her adjusted age, has a wicked sense of humor and is totally a mischief maker!

You and your little man will be in my prayers.

You're so sweet, thanks so much for your response. I've come to terms with the fact that this baby may just make an early appearance and I think that's helped me cope. I'm able to focus on the positives (...not being in full blown labour, for one) and stop worrying so much.

Just wondering how things are going?

:)

Things are okay. Well, not great to be honest, but I'm happy to not have gone into real labour yet. I keep going into false labour though and it freaks me out... yesterday I was having regular contractions every 3-6 minutes for hours, lasting anywhere from 40-60 seconds. I was waiting for them to consistently hurt before going to the hospital, but they didn't, so I just put it off as my normal irritable uterus.

It just seems things are getting worse and not better. I'm still going into false labour on almost a daily basis now. I'm either in really long early labour or I'm actually going to deliver at full term and all this worrying was for nothing!

Hoping to make it to 37 weeks but I don't know how much longer this baby is going to take these contractions before he's had enough lol

If the contractions are not thinning out your cervix and are not stressing out your little man, you might have to live with this for weeks yet... but that would be a good thing! 30 weeks... another week closer... GOOD WORK MOM!!!

Focus on a short term goal... 32 weeks (32 is a developmental milestone!). When you make it there, set a new goal. This helped me when I was pregnant with my twins and was on hospital bedrest for 2 months before they were born. I remember marking off the days until 32 weeks in my calendar and throwing myself a little party when we got there... had pizza delivered to the hospital, hehe.

Keeping you in my thoughts.

Haha thanks so much :) :) I've already got a countdown going on my phone for 32 weeks and then 34, then full term! Hoping I make it to full term where I'll stop being anxious and start getting excited!

Fingers crossed little one stays put a while longer for you. Didn't want to read and run xx

Thanks hun. Me too xox

Thankfully I've not lost my plug or had any bleeding so far, so I definitely see that as a positive! :)

Good luck! Hope he stays put at least until term :) x
