I have medium length hair but it's VERY thick, I have to straighten it in at least three sections (one half of my head at a time) but if I didn't it would be the most awful frizz bomb ever!!!

I'm going to a wedding at the end of the month & my friend has lent me two gorgeous dresses....I want to do something different with my hair though cos I have it straight all the time so it just seems boring.

If I do some curls using my straighteners, can I just curl the 'top' sections or will it look stupid with the underneath bits straightened? I think I'd look too poodle-like with a full curly head but couldn't not curl the underneath bits cos it would be too frizzy.

Pic of me below to show what my hair is like...excuse the stupid look I couldn't find one more recent.

Your hair looks lovely, my hair is very thick and kind of medium length too, and when i curl it i curl the lot, except for my side fringey bit lol, it looks very glamorous, i did it for the last wedding i went to! Thick curly hair looks good, its all about the volume :D x

ooh i'll never understand why people with nice thin hair want to have thick hair!! I also have the same majo affro frizz type problem if I dont straighten my hair, it used to be curly, but I've kinda destroyed it with years of abuse :haha:

I find that if I wash it, deep condition it, and then put a load of serum through it, I can scrunch it as its drying naturally which stops the underneath half going frizzy then I can just curl the top couple of layers!

i have the same problem i buy a decent hairspray and i do mine in sections, i curl some leave a thin layer straight curl some more leave a think layer etc etc

I have thick medium hair too. I have got a curling wand as I couldn't curl my hair with tongs or straightners. I tend to curl either the ends of my hair or just all of it. This is what it looks like when I use the wand (ignore the ridiculous face pulling lol)

My hair is stupidily thick.

I also have to straighten mine is 3 parts.

Wash, dry and scrunch with a good hair serum.

Thanks ladies. Will give it a trial run soon - are straigtners ok to do it with or are curling tongs better? No clue!!

Do 1 side with tongs and the other with straighteners and we will tell ya lol.

I would suggest a wand, the one I have is only £24 from Argos, it's so much quicker and easier :)

I use straighteners, thick ones and thin ones so it looks more natural :D x

Not done it in ages, but I use straighteners to curl my hair. It is also pretty thick, but I can't get away with curling some and not all of it. It looks wierd!! but, it doesnt go huge when it's all curled either

Best pic I could find. Sorry it's so dark...but that is with all of it curled  and ignore the face...I was at my brothers wedding!

ETA - I don't know how long your hair is, but my hair was pretty long back then (that pic was taken a few years ago now). It probably came down to just below my bra strap so curling it took a coupe of inches off the length. If your hair is just below your shoulders then expect it to be brushing your shoulders when curled

My hair's really thick and naturally curly, but it frizzes up most of the time so I have to use a product to emphasise it. I get fed up with taking at least an hour to straighten it, then take an extra 30 mins to artificially curl it, when it only kinks up again in the humidity. In the UK it's fine, but here it starts kinking up when I'm still straightening it  I end up working with the curls now; wash it, towel dry, spray, scrunch like hell and go. In my opinion it's great, because you have a lovely head of hair and it only takes a few minutes.

I use either:

* John Frieda Frizz-Ease Dream Curls Curl Perfector - loose hold, allows movement
* John Frieda Frizz-Ease Spiral Style Curl Defining Spray Gel - convinced this is actually the same as the previous one listed
* John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Corrective Styling Mousse - gives a wet look, doesn't allow much movement

These are the only products I've found that actually work to hold my curls and avoid frizz

Thank you girls. Will post pics when I've had a go!! x

my hair used ot be very thick before i started playing funny buggers with it and damaged it....

i just cut it today...was just below my bra strap now sit an inch or so under my shoulders
