Hi ladies,

I'm currently at weight watchers and have lost 10lbs since Jan. Took me a while to get my act together! We are currently deciding whether to start ntnp for #2 and part of me would like to lose the weight I put on and part of me thinks life is too short, we've always wanted a small age gap so why not go for it. I am 3st heavier than my lightest and will continue exercising and following ww, and if we do fall pregnant I'll continue eating healthily with the aim of not putting on so much weight next time.

Did you lose your baby weight before ttc #2 or did you have #2 and then think about shifting the lbs?! Thanks ladies xxx

I lost most of the weight before trying for number 2 and I'm so glad I did! I found that the weight went back on so easily when I was pregnant again, and has been a lot harder to shift this time around (I'm nowhere near having lost it all :(). If I hadn't lost weight before I'd be seriously big and unhealthy now. If it was me I'd try to lose the weight before ttc number 2, so that your body is under less pressure and so you don't stress so much about weight gain (if you think you would). However that is just in an ideal world, and I think that actually if it was a choice between having the age gap I wanted and having to work extra hard after birth to lose extra weight I'd probably just ttc now.

I was 2 stone heavier when I fell pregnant with my second . And all I did all pregnancy was worry about getting even bigger. Luckily I lost 1 and half stone due to sickness .. So I only endeds up a few lb heavier than my pre pregnancy weight at the end , and I always am all. Baby. I'm glad I didn't wait til I'd lost the weight b4 I had my second tho cuz I could of bein waitin years then to just pile it back on . Now I can focus on losing it now , we don't want any more kids. X

Ooh mixed opinions! :) we got pregnant first month of trying last time round and part of me thinks what if we aren't that lucky this time around... I'm also enjoying my exercise and losing the weight, though I can continue with that if I do get pregnant. I think next time round is *try* to make better choices about what I'm eating instead of going for it just because I'm pregnant ;-) decisions decisions! X

I reckon life is too short, and to just go ahead and start TTC, but continue to eat healthily and exercise at the same time. You may be lucky and get pregnant very quickly, but if you have any difficulties conceiving second time round then you might look back and think you "wasted" time before hand trying to lose weight.

Well it took me 3 years to concieve my 1st so we were ntnp from when he was born . I fell pregnant when he was 16 months , if I would of waited and lost weight 1st I might not even have chad x

Thank you ladies :) kind of lucky as we dtd last night haha so looks like we are ntnp! X

I've not yet had #2 but I am definitely trying to loose as much as possible before we do. I'm not sure how much I've lost, not a massive amount as I'm still in the same size clothes but the clothes I have fit better and my boots zip up without a problem now rather than me squashing my calves into them :haha:

I didn't lose much of the baby weight before getting pregnant for the second time and it worked out quite well for me. I didn't really gain much weight for the first two trimesters, then gained some in the third but most of it was gone by about a week post partum. I wasn't hugely overweight to start with but the second baby seemed to eat the fat :) For me, the pregnancies were so different - with your first you aren't chasing a toddler around all day so it's easier to be lazy if you're not working. I also ate far too many doughnuts first time . As my first was 9lb1oz, I laid off them a bit second time (and ended up with a 7lb4oz baby so it worked!).

By the time my second was a few months old, I was lighter than I'd been when I got pregnant with her.

I lost the three stone I put on with my DS before I fell pregnant with this one. I've put most of the weight back on due to feeling like crap so eating badly, spd has stopped me from running ( I ran 4miles x 4 times per week until 9weeks preg) and I can't imagine what I'd be like if I hadn't made the decision to put myself and my health before my desire for another child.

I still had a few more pounds to lose but it took us 6 months to conceive our first and I thought I;d had time, but no we fell preg first month.

I've say have the best of both worlds - give yourself say three months as a target to lose as much as you can in that time and then start trying for #2. I really wouldn't count on good intentions of eating better/exerising more next time to keep the weight gain down as you can't know how you'll feel when you are pregnant and personally I feel it's so easy to put on weight without doing too much wrong.

Good luck though wahtever you decide.

I actually was given the advice from someone much older who said she really wishes someone was honest and told her to lose the weight after her first. She had 4children in the end and each time she would say "i should go on a diet" and be told no you look fine (obviously not wanting to upset a mother with a newborn)

Well she went up to a size 22. Now at 54 is a size 18 and just cant shift it. Telling me how its so much easier to lose a few pounds each time instead of ending up with stones to lose.

So I would say hearing from someone with regrets to lose the weight. Also the better your weight the better for yourself and baby2 during pregnancy

I'm about 5kg lighter than I was when I got pregnant with my daughter, but I still want to lose another 10kg or so before we start trying for #2. I just think I'll have an easier time being pregnant and hopefully not get as bad with SPD and that if I'm a bit fitter starting out.

I lost the baby weight in between kids. I gained 4st each time so glad I did really! Im pretty much pre pregnancywweight now and baby is 13w :)!

We were planning to NTNP but now we are going to wait a bit. Going to lose the weight while we wait. 12 kilos to go for me lol.

2st would get me to my pre pregnancy weight and an extra 10lbs on top of that to how much I weighed when we got married. I still don't really know what to do. I think we are just going to ntnp to be honest and I'll carry on exercising and doing ww until we get a bfp. What if it takes months to get our bfp... Hmmmm!! X

I had been trying since my daughter was born (18 months) I finally joined slimming world and lost 4 lbs in my first week, found out I was pregnant the week after

We had both said it was our last month trying before we take a break for the summer, we also used conceive plus that month.

I believe the healthy eating worked as we only did twice that month!
So losing weight definitely helped me xxx

Do wish I lost it sooner though so I could enjoy this pregnancy without feeling a fat blob lol!!
But everything happens for a reason cx

Aww bless you, I bet you look beautiful! All pregnant women do I think :) and actually when I had a massive bump, it was the one time in my life I haven't obsessed and felt fat and weighed myself constantly! Good luck with your pregnancy :) x

we are not ttc or planing on anytime soon but I will stick to a healthy life style (healthy meal + exercise) no matter where you are in life. Just letting go because you think you "may" be pregnant soon to me wouldn't be a good idea. It would be harder to get back to where you were the longer you are off the healthy wagon and no one can ever predict how long it will take a woman to get pregnant ;)
