Im so stressed. Im a single parent. I have a mortgage which is about 400 quid a month, all my bills etc.. I was earning about £110 a week so roughly £450 a month plus my tax credits were bumplin my wage (I was gettin about 400 a month on top from them). I was coping ok. Now the place I work has gone bankrupt and I got told on tuesday out the blue that I no longer have a job . Im gonna have no wage, plus no tax credits of 400 a month. If I claim dole I will only get bout 60 or so a week (250ish) a month where as b4 I was gettin income of 800. how the bloody hell can I cope on that. I cant go to the council and get them to pay rent because I have a mortgage and I aint renting. I could claim somehow for the interest to be paid but I think u need to be covered some how with a certain insurance or sommat for that and I dont think I am so FFS what am I gonna do!!! How can I be expected to keep my house and drop from 800 a month to less than 250 :/

im not sure how it works hun, do you not get any redundancy pay or anything?

hope someone else can be of more help, hope it all works out hun

If you have an interest only mortgage it could work out ok.

on income support i am sure i read that you can get help paying a mortgage, but as with all income support help there is conditions tobe met. bstthing to be would be to phone jobcentre anda skwhathelp you are entitled to. i'm sure youand your mortgage lender can come to some arrangement, the last thing they are going to want is to be loosing money.

i'm sure you will get something sorted out, life likes to try us at times!

xXx

thanks everyone. I wont get redundancy pay cuz they are declaring themselves bankrupt. I have a fixed rate mortgage for 5 years (not an interest only). I am def gonna have to look into this and see where I stand. I will go to the job centre on monday and speak to someone. life is so bloody stressful. Just as I was gettin sorted too :( xx

that's alwaysthe way. almost there when somebody comes along and moves the finish line.

don't worry, you will get there in the end - even if it means taking a few longer diversions!

I'm in the same boat as you. My OH and I are moving, My seasonal job ended two weeks ago and his job is seriously considering letting him go. We can't stay with our families. I'm so worried about this, but he doesn't seem to be that concerned at all.

I don't have any advice....I jsut wanted to give you a hug and tell you you're not alone.

Thanks so much. You hear so much about people losing their homes because they cant afford to keep up with the mortgage re-payments I am so stressed right now. Im just gonna have to get out there and find something. anything!! Theres gotta be something out there for me. Im being quite stubborn in my thinking right now. I was a manager so to drop down is gonna be a killer but beggers cant be choosers so am gonna just have to take whats there . Back to square one tho ay! All good things come to an end! UNFORTUNATELY!! Good luck to you. Hope you get things sorted as well :hugs:

You can get help for paying the interest part of your mortgage, but you must be on benefits for a certain amount of time first before they will help.

Have a look at entitledto.com and DWP.gov.UK hopefully they will tell you a little bit more about what you may be eligible to claim.
