Hi folks,

Just got OH samples back (told by his GP they looked normal but not so sure) His sperm count is good at 126 million but the motility is only 11.9%, morphology at 9 and viscocity is - hyperviscid.

I get that we need to do some vits and he needs to cut down on cafine and booze but what does the hyperviscid bit mean? Too sticky? Anyone else had this? What can you do to sort that out?

Feeling a bit gutted as he doesn't want to talk about it :(

Any advice gratefully recieved

I'm not sure what the hyperviscid bit means as that wasn't on my OH's results. But your OH's count is really good. My OH takes selenium with zinc vitamins from Holland and Barratt think they were £6 for 2 packets and there's 90 vits in a pack, They seem to have helped alot.. Before he started the vits, his 1st SA was 29 mil count, 4% rapid, 14% sluggish and 3 months later after takings the vits, his 2nd was 89 mil count, 22% rapid and 9% sluggish, a good improvement.. he has his 3rd SA in a few weeks so i'm hoping its still the same or better.. plus he smokes and drinks abit too..

I just looked on google and found this: "viscosity viscid - This is how sticky the sample is. It should be viscid (sticky) but not hyperviscid (basically too sticky)." so i'm guessing hyperviscid means there too sticky? here's the link,

And! Coming up to OV this week - how often hould we be looking at BD if the motility is lower? We had planned to do it every day but maybe we shouldn't? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Thanks Jem, that's good to know. I was in Holland and Barratt today and nearly bought the men's pre-conception vitimins. Will be back tomorrow! Good luck :)

we've just seen a gyne nurse before seeing a FS and she told us to do it every other day/3 times a week, as we told her we were doing it everyday, thinking it was okay because of the good count, but she said we should try that and see what happens..

Hello,
We also have low motility (10 %) and was told to :sex: every 36 hours around O, hope that helps xxx

Thanks to both of you for the advice, every day is obviously not working for us either so will try and get it timed right this month. It's so difficult! Sending out my most positive vibes for us all this time around xx

Hey ladies! Hope you don't mind if I jump in. AF arrived this morning marking the beginning of our 12th cycle, ttc our first. My DH got his SA results yesterday and motility was only 40%. The reference number on the lab results was 49% but I've seen 60% as normal on some websites. Anyhoo - he was told to take a good quality multi vitamin and drink more water and do another test in 6 weeks. He smokes and drinks a bit too so we are going to work on abstaining - just good clean living ; P Are any of you thinking about l-carnitine supplements? I've read that they can be good for motility.

Loads of support and baby dust to you lochbride, ald, and Jem88!

my DH is an all sorts of vits
multi vit
vit c
maca
l-carnitine
l-argetine
fish oil
zinc
He said he'd try anything, its a good job lol bless him

Hi ACLIO! I've seen you post on another thread about low SA numbers. Got my FX'd for your first ICSI appointment and I hope the vitamins are helping your DH's numbers.

I would love to stay in touch with you ladies that are trying to improve your partner's SA results. Please let me know how you are getting on : )
