Hi!
I had my 20 week scan a fortnight ago now. Everything was absolutely fine with baby but I was told that my placenta was on the low side. It wasn't over the cervix but was reaching the cervical os. Apart from a few concerned looks the sonographer didn't seem too worried about it and neither did the midwife I saw after the scan. I wasn't told that there was anything I shouldn't do now or anything like that either. I was just scheduled a scan at 32 weeks along with a consultant appointment. I know that usually the placenta moves up and there isn't a problem but I also know that this is slightly less likely if the placenta is posterior (which mine is!)! The only person I know irl who's experienced something similar had a more significant previa that didn't move so she had a c-section at 37 or 38 weeks but was hospitalised for a while before that. Basically what I'd like is a bit of reassurance, preferably from people whose placenta moved, that everything's fine! I don't see my midwife now until 28 weeks at the end of June!

Beca

You could have been writing my story from my last pregnancy. It took til 36 weeks for it to move out of the way but it did. I delivered him 4 weeks later naturally. Hope this helps xx

Hi , at 20 weeks I was told have Posterior PP covering the OS. Im 32 weeks now and have to go for a Scan today to see if the Placenta has moved. At 24 weeks I had a bleed and was in hospital overnight but nothing since then, that was very worrying. I have been told most pp move out of the way so its likely to move, I will see today. Although I didn't really want a c-section if it hasn't moved then this will be the outcome, and now I have been told I'm having a big baby i'm getting more used to the idea of a c-section for sure :) I was told no intercourse with PP by the Midwife, check if that applies to you as she was quite adamant I refrain. Im sure you will be fine as they say most PP move, I will check in later tell you if mine has moved or not :)

Had scan this morning Plancenta has moved but not enough so, another scan booked for 4 weeks time when i will be 36 weeks .... It is frustrating not knowing what's going to happen (natural birth or c-section) but I guess we just have to be patient

Hi! I also had low placenta, but at 22 weeks, and baby was posterior too. I was also not told that I wasn't allowed to do anything, and I was very racy while pregnant. little man was stubborn, but moved eventually (can't quite remember when) and I gave birth at 38 weeks, induced (due to pre-e) But natural birth :) don't worry yourself until you have to! It's not worth it, trust me! Good luck, hun xx

I am just found out my placenta is low as well. I've been put on pelvic rest so I can't lift anything which is difficult with a 10 month old. I'm kinda worried but I go see my doctor next week to see what is going to happen from here. I had a c section with my first and so I'm not scared of a c section just want to keep the baby in as long as I can so we won't have to send him to the NICU. I've read up a lot on this and I think that's making me even more worried.

It is still possible for the placenta to move. I had a low lying placenta with both of mine and it moved in time for both of them. Think of a balloon and if you put a spot on it and then you blow it up, The spot moves a lot as the balloon gets bigger. The placenta usually does the same sort of thing.

Hi i was diagnosed with pp also due to a heavy bleeding, i was so worried for a moment I thought i was about to loose the baby. But they checked the baby and it is ok, they told me to rest, try to eat well, give me progesterone and drink a lot of water, i hope it moves up!.

My placenta at 15 weeks was really low. At my 20 week scan it moved almost to the top of the uterus, so a lot can change by the time of your next scan :)

My placenta was low lying at 20 weeks with DS2 and it moved out of the way just fine :hugs:
