Low potassium? Anyone?

Just got a call that my potassium was very low. Anyone have any idea about what this means? I actually went in because I am ITCHING like crazy and had my liver levels checked. The potassium was a surprise and not sure what it means.

It's usually due to an electrolyte imbalance have you had any infections or anything else that could have made you run down badly? I had this with my eldest, my electrolytes were totally messed up, some blood minerals too high, some too low including potassium they had to put me on an electrolyte drip for 4 days to level stuff out again also was given IV antibiotics as I was going to have a severe kidney infection xx

I do have a 2 year old, go to school full time, and am 40. I always feel run down, but no infection or anything. So frustrated. They sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy and I have had to basically beg for it. I am still awaiting the liver function results and itching like a mad woman. Any chance potassium levels can cause itching?
