My wee man is 6 months and one week old, started weaning at 4 month (HV recomended) and he LOVES food. He can deal with mashed things now and seems to love anything he has been given so far. At the minute his routine is this:

7am- 7oz bottle
8:30am- baby porridge and half a pot of fruit pruee
12am- LUNCH He normally eats about 5 (20ml) cubes of potato, veg and a meat mixed
2pm- baby yougurt or fruit pruree/custard pot
5pm- DINNER 7oz bottle followed my potato mixed with veg and a bit of meat again
7pm- custard or sugar free rusk
8:30 pm- 7oz bottle then bed

IS HE EATING TOO MUCH? AND WHAT ELSE CAN I OFFER HIM AT LUCH TIME RATHER THAN POTATO VEG AND MEAT??? (NOT GREAT WITH FINGER FOODS YET)

Thanks so much for your help...just a bit lost at the minute.

Pasta (cream or bol sauce), rice, different stews all fork mashed . Veggie soup, lentils soup, chicken & cream soup, well cooked scrambled eggs. Yoghurt with fruits for dinner or as a snack

At 6.5 mnths Omar was eating frm what we'r eating fork mashed. At 7 mnths he started having all food without mashing.

U can refer to https://www.babyandbump.com/weaning-nutrition/361977-tw-did-your-lo-eat-today.html for ideas

Omar still doesnt eat finger food (he can eat it but wont hold it. so I hold it for him :) ).

You asked if it sounds like a lot - to me it does - its way more than Anna is eating and she is 8 months, but then up til she was 6 months everyones LO was taking way more milk than Anna too! Its probably about twice as much food as she is taking. Have you had your boy weighed recently?

Omar's mum suggested a lot of good alternatives.

Anna loves pasta. What about fish?:flower:

My lo eats about 3 table spoons of baby porriage for breakfast, 8 ice cubes of food (veg, meat/fish potato mashed together) for his tea and he has about half an apple/nectarine/plum/pear with a one slice of bread folded in half with a filling and two fromage frais pots for his lunch and he is still on 3 7oz bottles of sma follow on milk a day plus water in between. Now thats a greedy monkey and if he doesnt have all that he is awake half the night having milk. But at 9 months he still only weighs 21lbs ish ( birth weight 10lb 7oz) strange really!

Omar eats 1/3 what ur LO eats, & he only takes 15-18 oz of formula. He was 8 lbs at birth & he's around 24 lbs now. He's on the 90th percentile. 1 pot of fromage frais or 1/2 a banana are main meals for Omar :) He was 8 lbs at birth & is 24 lbs now. he's big & tall. But he eats too little for his size, but he never dropped weight. He's always moving around & soo active.

I guess every baby is different! Thanks so much for all your help. (He was weighed last week and is not overweight doing well for his age). He loves fish already and he'd eat anything! He had beans with a toasted pancake with butter today for dinner...he is with the babysitter at lunch time so I thought I'd leave her to give the bigger meal at 12:30 and I'll concentrate on the finger foods.

Went to see the health visitor today just to make sure he wasn't eating too much and she said not to worry if it was too much he'd bring it back up. What you all think?

I think she's right hun. Dont worry about quantities, some babies love to eat more than others. Omar starts gagging when he's full. Even if he only takes 2-3 baby spoons I stop offering him. If ur LO is happy with what he's taking, there is nothing to worry about xx

Bryson normally eats 7 tablespoons (3oz) of rice cereal or oatmeal and half to a whole jar of fruit puree (2oz-4oz) for breakfast.

Lunch: About 4oz of soup or spaghetti O's (something in the same catagory) or grilled cheese sandwich (or another type of sandwich)

Snack around 3pm: Some cheerios, rice rusks, or biter biscuit

Supper: Whatever we are having. If he can't have what we are having (very rarely)...he will have soup, sandwich or veggies.

He has 3-5 5-7oz bottles a day. There is no set time for them though.
