This is the first time I've wondered onto Long Term TTC. Since you ladies are so experienced and having been trying for so long I just wanted to introduce myself and ask for any advice. I've been ready to pull my hair out.

I took my last Depo injection July 2008, October would have been my first month without birth control of any type. We tried for 1 year and I'm almost positive I was mostly if not totally annovulatory for the entire year. August 2009, I went and saw my OBGYN who is also a fertility specialist. He told me I had PCOS and put me on Femara, Metformin and baby aspirin. He tested my hormones and they came back normal. He didn't do an US of my ovaries. I got pregnant in September 2009 and started bleeding at 5 weeks. They did an US that showed a subchorionic bleed but a developing fetus with a heart rate of 126. I had one cyst of each ovary-I did not have PCOS. My doc started checking my betas, they were not progressing like they should. This happened on a Friday, he said I would miscarry by Monday. Tues when I hadn't started bleeding again, I called the office and they told me to "hold my breath and wait" for my appt 3 weeks later.
I got a new doc, she said I should be ok, I wouldn't lose the baby but at 10 weeks I did. Now I'm back to TTC again. We've been trying since January, it's only been 3 months but in any of your experiences, how long should I have to wait again to seek fertility treatment? I know that I got preg but it wasn't viable and it was medicated.
Any opinions would be great. We're on cycle 18 and even though I'm only 27 I would like to have another baby soon.

Hi Arein83

I would get back to the specialist as soon as possible. Everything always takes so long while ttc, so it'd be good to have the back up of a specialist on your side.

It also sounds like maybe you haven't had all your questions answered yet as to whether you are pcos etc. It'd good to find all that out maybe? Its really important to find a fs you trust (if you have choice of course).

best of luck

Hi Arein83
I'm really sorry to hear what you went through, it sounds very traumatic. Massive ((hugs)) to you.
Personally speaking, I agree that it's not too soon to go back to the specialist. After all you went through with a year of ttc before that happened and there's the question mark of pcos. Sounds like you need some answers, hon. Plus like Anabanana has said, it's good to have the support of a specialist on your side
Good luck
xxxx

Thanks girls. I'm just really unsure. I'm afraid my OB won't give me the referral that is needed for my insurance company for one thing. I'm going to try to hold out awhile longer but I just don't want to wait too long.

Hi Arein! I am afraid I really don't have any answers for you but just wanted to say hi and show some support. I am so sorry about your loss : ( :hugs:

I know your last pg was medicated, but what about your first? You may not have any fertility problems, so to speak, the depo is pretty harsh from what I've heard. I was on depo for a decade and it gave me osteopenia and even though I have been off it 6 years I still have never had a bfp since. : (

Hi Titi!! DD was an unexpected surprise and she was before the Depo. I blame my infertility on the Depo. According to the statistics, it takes 6-12 months to regain fertility after stoppping but can take as long as 2-4 years. I'm going on year #2 and I know you've had a tough ride with it, too. My girlfriend stopped Depo and got preg the next month, it's all dependent on your body. I'm trying to eat more healthy and drink lots of water to try to clean out my system. Grrr..I just want some help that won't cause me to miscarry adn I want to know what's wrong with my body.

I hope you get some help. I am convinced the depo is evil. It seemed too good to be true when I was young and naive. Now I almost have osteporosis at 34 b/c of it!!! (not to mention no baby!)

I am very sorry about your mc. I can only imagine that must add a lot of stress to an already tough time.:hugs::hugs:

:hugs: Sorry you had to go through all that hun! Before my Mom had my 3 little sisters (they are 5,6, and 7) She got pregnant after depo, and it also resulted in a MC. It was so traumatic for her, I know it was the Depo. She has 7 healthy children, and no other pg complications. I hope your body gets back to normal soon! TTC is such a long and hard road, and we are all so patient and deserving that it's just a matter of *grr* time! Fxd you get your :bfp: soon!

I talked to DH about seeing a fertility specialist and got the names of some nearby. He's against it, he's afraid they'll put me back on meds which is what he thinks caused me to m/c.
