Hi ladies, haven't really posted before but read this site religiously while pregnant and loved the "babies here" posts so here's mine.
I started having very weak but regular contractions 7 mins apart 5 days before she was born. I called the hospital a couple of times but even when I had a gush of blood I was told to call back when they're 3-5 mins apart for an hour.
2 nights before she was born I did have regular but bearable contractions every 3-5 minutes but because it was the middle of the night I was going to wait until the morning to call in. I just figured as I'm a FTM i would be in labour for a while and that they wouldn't go away being that regular but they did after a few hours.
Very gutted the next day as I thought that was it but just went about my business. Same thing that night with contractions so called up after 3 hours of 4 minute contractions but was told I wouldn't be able to talk through them and to call back when my waters broke. That really annoyed me because I was constantly told the 5-1-1 rule and when i did time them was told something else. The next day they disappeared again.
Anyways, my mum forced me to go to the hospital the next day without calling and lucky she did. I had a stress test and felt kinda silly cause I couldn't feel any contractions and she was moving heaps but then heaps of people were coming in and looking worried. They started doing internals and I was 7cm dilated. Apparently I had been contracting the whole time but just couldn't feel them and every time I did her heart beat was going ridiculously low. It all ended in an emergency c-section because I wasn't progressing fast enough and her heart beat was getting even weaker during contractions. Very opposite to my drug free natural labour I had in mind but shes so worth it. Sorry, just noticed how long that was. I'm just so thankful my mum made me go in, it scares me to think how this could have turned out.
Thanks for reading. She was born at 40w2days weighing 3.3kgs xx
