This is my first post in 2nd trimester, I made 14w today!

So, I wish my first post was little less, ahem, gross and embarrassing but it's life. Like my doctor said, you gotta eat and you gotta poop, or you die. haha

Brings me to my issue, I've been extremely constipated. This is totally new for me because I was no where near this level for my first pregnancy. I mean, constipated to the point where I'm having extreme stomach pains and vomiting!
My doctor told me to drink magnesium citrate and that would help to clean me out. I just drank it but now I'm getting nervous. Has anyone else experienced this?

What do you do to keep this from happening? I tried the high fiber diet, but that didn't really help. Any other suggestions?

I don't know about the magnesium, but I take clorophyll (you can get it at a health food store) in pill form twice a day, and it keeps me REALLY regular. It's made of alphalpha.

My doctor recommended magnesium for both muscle cramps and constipation as well, but I still have to go pick some up. I think it's pretty safe. Just start with the lower dosage and figure out how much you need without overdoing it (you don't want to end up with diarrhea), so it might take some experimenting. I'm not sure how long it takes to work, but please let us know if it helps!

I could do with something to help me in the bathroom but dont like potty talk wi doc or even hubby so please let me no which solutions work!!

I take mine everyday and I've NEVER expereienced pregnancy constipation! However I do combine it with a calcium supplement. I had horrible leg cramps at night during 1st pregnancy...not this time. I also experience eye twitching...until I got on my minerals! I drink 1/2 cup of coffee a day so maybe that robs my little magnesium.

Prune juice. I know it sounds ridiculously simple but it help me so much last time a small I'm mean small glass a day and I was regular and had no pains from the day I started. X

Thanks guys! It worked, definitely got me going, but I'm still experiencing stomach pains and nausea after I eat. I'm starting to wonder if it isn't something more severe?
