Hi ladies, just hoping someone would be able to help me out, me and FOB are on speaking terms and trying to sort things out amicably for the sake of our LO and without going through solicitors etc as we both agree the money is better off spent on LO. My son is 2 weeks old and FOB has visited both weekends since he was born and the last time he came I spoke to him about setting up child maintenance. I put him on the spot there and then and asked him what his take home pay is per month, I then went onto the CSA website and worked out what he should pay me using their calculator they have on the site. We both agreed the amount and I sent him an email with my bank details on so that he could setup the standing order when he got home. He has since emailed me back saying that he made a mistake with how much he earns and has calculated that he should be paying £18 less a month than what we agreed. Now it's not a huge amount I know and I want to trust him but I'm thinking that I should actually ask for a copy of his last couple of payslips just so that I know he is paying what he should be. Is this fair for me to ask for him to provide that? As I know that if we went through CSA or solicitors then they would definitely ask for his payslips. I just want to make sure he pays what he should!!

Any advice from anyone that has come to an agreement about child maintenance without using solicitors etc would be greatly appreciated!!

In my honest opinion, its only £18 a month less. If hes willing to pay a fair amount to support his child, then id leave it at that. You dont have to do exactly what the CSA would do :)
