Hi does anyone know how much my ex can give me before i have to tell someone how much im getting?I told income support that im not getting any cos i wasnt but he has now decided to do 'the right' thing and give me £100 a month.I think i heard a while ago its £20 a week before they take some of your benefits away but im not sure if thats right?I dont want to get in trouble and have to pay money back etc!Thankyou for any replies x

I know that if your on IS, and the CSA are involved, you get to keep £20 of whatever they get from FOB.

I dont no if its any different if you have a private arrangement, though its probably best to be honest about how much he gives you, just to avoid future problems... i expect you will get to keep £20 of it, and the rest will go to cover you IS. If that makes sense.

I think thats correct :flower:

Yep its £20 a week whether private agreement or through csa.. the diff comes that with a private agreement he may give you £40 a week but the extra £20 will be deducted from your income support if that makes sense. Either way your only getting an extra £20, Me personally would not do a private agreement as if he does not pay full amount one wk if any at all you still lose out on income support. Id rather go through csa & continue to claim full IS that way its something i can rely on.

You get to keep more of the csaif not all if you are working :) x

yer its £20 a week now, can he give you £20 a week and then buy some nappies and milk? thats a good way of getting around it, it should be going up to £40 per week in April 2010 so ive heard so it wont affect it at all!
