Making bottles in advance **Update Pg 3 **

I premake bottles with powder if im staying in or just with water if im going out coz i have a formula pot!! I make four bottles at a time (24 hours worth) then put them in a sink full of cold water to cool them straight down then in the fridge they go and i warm them up when i need them. I don't have enough time to make them up as i go along its just not do-able lol

I was quizzing my midwife yesterday about why we cannot pre make bottles and she said it came from America where 6 babies died of this certain type of bacteria which they thought came from their milk, however, it was later discovered that this bacteria was present in their incubators so was more likely to have came from there. Also in America they were making the bottles with tap water rather than sterile boiled water. She also said that the last baby to be affected in England was in 1959, and that a lot of people still pre make bottles. Hope this puts a bit of perspective on things.

It doesn't surprise me. A friend of mine who's little guy is about 6 weeks younger than my LO and I were talking about this and we both figured that the warnings on the formula were due to some idiot using swamp water to make up their bottles and it harmed the baby.

I wouldn't make up more than 24 hours worth, but so long as it's in the fridge I see no harm in it! We don't anymore, mainly because we didn't want to be stuck out somewhere without being able to warm her bottle. So everything is room temperature. :)

I make them up in advance also, store them in fridge, then heat up when needed. Theo would scream the place down if I made them up as needed. I find it way easier to pre-make the bottles xx

sorry but that made me :rofl::rofl::rofl:

me too pink witch! glad you did it I always do the quote thing wrong!

We laughed pretty hard too. Part of me wonders if it is so funny because it's true.

I make up bottles for 24 hours. I have even left her night time bottle out of the fridge from 10pm until 4am on several occasions (I know Im a bad mummy), and it hasnt done her any harm.

I used to make my bottles in advance, and my LO is fine :)

I make 6 up at a time with the formula (boiled water left 30 mins to cool) and put in fridge and leave one out, as Dominic takes his feeds at room temp, then when hes had that one i'll get another one out of the fridge ready for the next one etc. Then when all 6are used, I sterilise and make up another 6.

I have tried getting Archie to take at room temp for when we are out and about but he wont :(

I make up enough formula for the day!
And just microwave them when he's hungry!
