Hi all,

my daughter has dropped just below the 0.4th percentile (she wasnt preemie just small at 5lb1oz at 39 weeks)

I have read that you can make a higher calorie milk by adding 1/2 tsp of formula to expressed milk.

has anyone else done this? is it OK?

Hi,

I havent hard about that but if she isnt putting on weight, ask ur health visitor about high calorie milk or a calorie suppliment, like duocal xx

hiya, she is gaining, just not as much as "the line" says she should be.

Shes now 6lb4oz at 5 weeks. The HV said if shes not up back to "the line" in 2 weeks then we can talk about high calorie formula, but i was wondering if this is something i could do now (Im expressing anyway, so to add in another spoonful of formula wouldnt be too difficult)

As far as i can see, it could make her a bit constipated but other then that, why not it a go x

Where have you read it? On the internet? If so I wouldnt bother, one thing I was told by all the nurses was never to google anything.

I would wait. Let your HV see how she does the next two weeks.

I would also speak to your local breastfeeding specialist. It might be that your own milk can be enhanced through diet, and ensuring you are expressing enough hind milk.
