Plz help. No idea how to do this correctly.

When we made our own we steamed the veg. When introducing food for the first time it's best to introduce one at a time, that way if any allergies you no what has been given.

Either blend all veg together then pop in ice cube trays or steam the veg individualy then freeze.

You can do this to fruit as well.

Anything you wanted to no just ask away x

A steamer is your friend, and a handheld blender I found great and doesn't take up loads of space in your kitchen. I would just peel and chop up say carrots, steam them and then blend to a puree and freeze loads in little weaning pots I got from tesco so I didn't have to worry about doing it that often. Same for fruit..early on I steamed pears and apples for example. I think some people do add a bit of water from the steamer/pan they boiled it in if it's too stodgy, or , you can easily add a bit of formula/breast milk. I never found the need to water anything down though. I got some amazing weaning guides free through the post, best probably being the cow and gate one, just for signing up for it. I followed that

In the early days I was wary of microwaving the food and used to defrost by putting in the fridge over night so it was no longer solid ice, then floated the pot in some hot water. I soon moved on to using the microwave, which as long as you stir throroughly etc and be wary of hotspots should be okay. Once you begin making dinners with meat (if you choose to do homemade) they really must be heated until piping hot though, either microwave or a pan. Once i moved onto meat, I found the handheld blender was still adequate to blend a mix of veg with cooked chicken pieces. The meat blended/chopped up much better than I expected.

Yes you can add water but if you are freezing then you can just add the water once defrosted

We're just starting out too, get the cow and gate weaning guide! It's really good and has a load of recipes in.

I've just done a batch of foods for her, steamed broccoli, parsnips, carrots, also did some pears. Blend each one and pop into Ice cube trays. Take one out the night before to defrost and get to room temp and then add in a little formula milk or cooled boiled water if you need to thin (I'm in the early days so thin everything!)

A mini blender is ideal! Took me about 30 minutes but she now has 4 trays full of different foods to try!
