This is my first time posting in the LTTTC section.. ive not really wanted to accept that we might need help getting pregnant.

Ive been going to the doctors a few times already but they dont seem to want to listen and keep fobing me off with diffrent excuses like give it another 6 months and its because im too fat (Im a size 16/18 and 5ft9") so not that much over weight, Or im too young im just really want some help.

This cycle marks 25 months TTC, for some reason the doctors dont believe me  i just want to know how to make the doctors listen! I dont think im ovulating (My OPK Never quiet gets as dark as the control line) ... but they said thats highly unlikely at my age. Im at my wits ends really. I know its stupid and i wouldnt do it but ive even been looking at buying Clomid Online :dohh:

Hi
That must be really frustrating for you. I have to say that, so far, I have found my GP's pretty hopeless, I definitely know much more about the whole TTC topic than they do. That said, they have at least referred me when I have asked (or demanded!) that. Maybe if there is a GP in your practice that you haven't been to before then you could see them. If I were you I would just be firm, don't give them the opportunity to really get into a discussion on it or offer advice - just go in, tell them you have been TTC for 25 months so you need them to refer you to a specialist and in the meantime you would like them to arrange a Day 21 test to check if you are ovulating (and maybe also a semen analysis for your OH?). If they argue again then I think you should just stay put and don't give in or accept any of their excuses - they'll need to get on to their next patient eventually so won't want to let you sit there forever! I'm sure the NICE clinical guidelines on fertility specify that a referral should be made after 2 years of timed intercourse (for under 35's) so you could always try quoting that at them if you are getting nowhere..
Good luck!

Hey, your GP sounds awful! Keep going until they refer you! Your GP should at least get you to have a couple of blood tests done. Thankfully my GP has been really great.
Can you ask to see a different GP at your surgery as it may help?

What really annoys me about the weight comment is it's not impossible for someone who they deem to be overweight to conceive, they shouldn't fob you off.

I haven't been on this forum for very long but you will get so much support and advice on here :hugs:

Good luck xx

Thank you very much for your replys! i like the idea of not moving out of the doctors office untill they reffer me! My OH is having his swimmers tested, he has been so sweet he said he dont want anyone pokeing and proding me with needles untill hes been tested bless him.

Have you got anything you think i should say to them?

Just to add i have lost 8lbs in the past 5 weeks to try and show them i am doing something about it :/

Thank you :) x

I had trouble too so I started charting - I had 4 months charts behind me which clearly showed my cycles were annovulatory and I also had an idea what was wrong (I have pcos which manifests itself in every possible way!)

Maybe just ask them for a straightforward cd21 blood test. Then if your progesterone is low, that should say to them that something is wrong. x

Hi - Maybe ask them to test you for PCOS too. I went to the DR years ago, long before we started TTC, and said i thought I had PCOS cos i have some of the symptoms but not all. So they did all the bloods - maybe go in and say u think you have it for a few reasons - weight being one of them. Then that will be one step further to getting help on the TTC front! If the bloods show PCOS then they might refer you.

25 months is a long time trying (im 28 months trying myself) - exaggerate your symptoms too - feck them if they dont listen to you - you have to do everything you can to get them to check you out. Just cos your young doesnt make a difference - if you try for another 5 years with no luck then you will be nearly too late - you need to get it sorted while your younger - i wish i did (im only 31 now so not old but I wish i started TTC at 25 - at least i might have a baby by now.

Good luck - demand some tests!

Hun I didn't know the doctors weren't listening to you!!
I can't believe that :nope:

Um.
Now I'm not sure what I'd do . .

I'd probably go and and explain everything.

Then when they say what they're going to do if they don't say they're going to refer you ask why.
If they give the same excuses say I'm really sorry but I've heard all this before I'm requesting you refer me and then maybe throw in teh quite about the NICE Guidelines.

Oh and remember to let me know how it goes! O:)

:hugs:

thankies Ladies

I dont know if i have PCOS but i have NONE! of the symptoms, can you still have PCOS if you dont have any symptoms?? My weight gain was due to Too much Fast food and not enough excerise and its not taking a big struggle to get the weight off...

I dont know but im due to test on the 17th of this month so if we have no luck this month me and DF are going in to have some tests!

Thanks Again

i have a friend who's a nurse and has only been trying for six months, but she's really impatient. she went to the Doctor and fibbed that it had been a year. she let her Doctor talk and then told him she wanted a referal to a gynie. she said the doctor kept saying other stuff that suggested no and ok time up out you go. but she said she just sat back and relaxed in the chair and made it very clear she wasn't going anywhere until they made a referal for her.

Oh and you are so fortunate with your OH mine refuses to go for SA.

:hugs:

Im kinda shy so sitting in the doctors office its not something i would usially do lol but i think im going to have to do it and bite the bullet :haha: and i will get somewere with it!

Thank you girls for all your support :)

Maybe we share the same doctor? I'm from Nottingham too and am having a RIGHT time trying to get my doctors to believe I have been TTC for over 2 years with no joy. Well, not TTC... just not using birth control and not getting pregnant.

I've been to the QMC gyno unit & am finally being referred for a laparascopy. I highly recommend you keep pushing for this operation because it will basically reveal all. I managed to get my last doctor to refer me for an ultrasound scan (which showed normal) but nothing more.

Good luck !! I wish doctors would open their minds. I'm 26 & "shouldn't have any trouble conceiving" according to them. :)

Probibly is the same doctor lol, What area in nottingham are you from?

Thats what they have said to me that i shouldnt have any trouble conceiving sometimes i would love to jump up and give em a good slap and say why on earth would i be putting my self through this if i was lieing!

Im due to start on the 17th.. Im just going by the darkest OPK i got as my Ov day.

I really dont think i have PCOS if its not this and DFs swimmers are all fine what else could it be, I would have for them to say that we have a unknown fertility problem of somthing!

That's why you are worrying!!!
Friggin doctors!!! :growlmad:

I'm in Rise Park; it's behind the times!

I've had doctors make moral judgements on me as well. Asking me things like when I plan to get married & if I'd get married before I have a baby. Erm !!!!

A male doctor told me that fertility is "something women worry about and they shouldn't"... I work in Adoption so... I'll worry, thanks. :)

Im in bulwell :) just down the road lol its a small world!.

Thats terrible them asking you if your getting married like they wouldnt help if you wernt its disgusting! x
