Iv always made up feeds for the day and put them in the fridge and warmed them up when needed. Had no problems with this.

But iv seen a few posts here saying you can add the water and leave at room temp then add powder when needed...

Only i thought you had to add powder to warm/hot water because the powder its self isnt actually sterile? Im sure i read this somewhere but i cant remember where, may have even been on the milk carton?!! Or am i completely wrong?

Because i tryed adding the powder to water left at room temp and the powder didnt dissovle properly like it does when iv added to hoter water?

Im so confused now!

I think if you do it that way, you can't make them in advance? I'm not sure really...

I've always done the whole fridge-bottle warmer when needed thing so I have no idea how do you prepare them this way.

I do the same as you, make them up in advance with hot water and store them in the fridge. I have read posts on here where people do them differently

I make mine as I go as on the packet it say you cant have the powder mixed with water for more than 2 hours x

we do it so we make up the water, then add the formula as needed and heat :) and shake well :) personally i think you can do it all sorts of ways, and what ever whats best x

Yeah you could always heat the water up a bit before you add the powder i guess hun

I think that's only if you arent puting them in the fridge (like if your baby drinks a few ounces, stops for a while then has more, the bottle can only be used within the 2 hours) if that makes any sense!

I make mine up for the day cool them by sitting them in cold water then straight into the fridge, I make less now cos Daisy isn't using as much bottles, but if there's any left at night I just chuck it out sterilise overnight and start again the next morning xxx

I think it's up to each individual, I remember reading the "milk isnt sterile" thing on the side of the carton and it confused me how you had to sterilise bottles, boil water, then add an unsterile powder!:dohh:

i make up mins for the day and warm each one as i need it, i tried just having water and adding the powder but cos she is on LF formula it doesnt dissolve unless the water is quite hot. so i was heating water really hot then mixing powder then colling again anyway so i just add powder to hot water wait for them to cool put in fridge and warm each as i need it.
they do tell you not to do this now but its been done for years plus when Annabelle goes to nursery they wont make up bottles so they will have to be pre made then

I make each one up as a need it ! I used to make them up for that day but my health visitor was in once and gave me into trouble:( ,

You say you put them in the fridge can u give them it cold:shrug:

I tried both ways hun... i found making them up then putting them in the fridge made courtney even more sicky than she already was.... heating the sterlised water up then adding powder worked better but she was still quite sicky

... I then got to a point of making them as I go, cos I found she was less sick!! Its just what works best for you though hun!! My friend made them up every morning and her baby had no problems!!

Me too....i make them as i go along too cos Maley is a sicky baby and i find it better......i dont find it any more/less work.....i just boil the kettle, make the bottle and stand it in cold water to cool down...if i go out i have a formula seperator jar thing

Tye has never been sick and iv had no problems with making them up and putting them in the fridge. I just wondered about the powder having too be added to hot water because it isnt sterile because im sure i read it somewhere!

when i ff my last 2 dds i made them for the day and put in fridge, but guidlines supposidly changed and you can bottle up sterile water and store in fridge, then add powder as and when and warm up in bottle warmer. Im sure lots of people do it as they have previously though .

So far I made up the bottles up with water then added the powder when I needed it... I was unsure of what to do...

I started off making up a fresh one each time like the formula packet says but I found with a screaming hungry baby that wasn't the best option for me. I just boil the kettle and make them up as I need them or make them up and leave them on the side then add formula when I need it and give it at room temp

I too make mine as we go along, although when she is due a feed, I boil kettle, let it stand about 10 mins, fill the bottle and put the rest in a flask. Then next feed water is ready and hot and kettle just been boiled once for 2 feeds.

I make mine as i go along to.

I boil the kettle let it stand for 30 mins then put it in a flask and that does 3 feeds !

I always make fresh

I boil water, and then waits till it cools and have a bottle of cooled boiled water..then as a i need a bottle i mix fresh boiled and cooled boiled together to make it just right, and then add the formula..

I was strictly told not to make bottles and store them in the fridge for the day..bacteria grows when its made, and then cooled and then re-heated..
