Hiya

Okay so from the start we have used MAM anti colic bottles with LO. I love the bottles but it seems she is really suffering with bad wind problems and at night sometimes SCREAMS the house down. Now I have heard good & bad things about Dr Brown bottles but am unsure if to change LO. She is on nutramigen milk and she is used to the MAM teats and also has the MAM dummies. Would you recommend trying Dr Browns? Could she still stay on MAM dummies or are the teats so different I would have to change these also? Any other brands highly recommended?

xx

I would definately change, Dr Browns made a huge difference to LO with his wind :)

We still use MAM dummies with no problems :)

You can use a different shape dummy to the type of teat on the bottle it really doesnt matter.

I haven't tried Dr browns but i have spent a fortune on different bottles and i can honestly say that none of them made a blind bit of difference with regards t,o wind, LO just had to grow out of it i know not what you want to hear but thats been the case with a lot of things unfortunately.

I tried MAM, Avent, Tommee Tippee closer to nature and their anti colic plus with the rod thing in middle.

Im another Dr Brown fan.

I have tired TT, Avent, Breastflow and MAM all gave LO wing however nothing beat the TT bottles for giving him the worst wind ever.

Im not sure it will make any difference which dummy you use. We use avent as they are the only onw he will take.

Thanks. Will dr browns fit a tt steam steriliser? How many bottles would i need. At the min i have about 11 mam bottles! Lol. I dont use all at once. Xx

Yeah we got the TT set so we use it for the bottles.

I can get 3 bottles in at a time because they are bigger so have to tilt the top lid down the side the bottles aren't.It would be handier to have ones that fits better But i refuse to buy a new steriliser so it does the job lol Plus i use my old TT bottles to mix my milk in and store in fridge so they are not a complete waste.

As for how many you need, id go for however many feeds you do in a 24h period. I have 7 bottles even though LO takes 4/5 feeds a day, means i can always have bottles clean and ready and not have to worry about washing up all the time.

Thanks! I may get a couple and try her on those then get more. My 10% discount for boits does come in handy! Xx

MAM were terrible for wind, as soon as we changed to DR brown's there was a huge difference they're a God send! She also had MAM dummies still at the time too

Thanks. I have spoken to some who swear by MAM but I guess like most things not all get on with same thing as some dont like Dr Browns. I am gonna give them a shot and see I think. Maybe it is the milk and bottle combination that could be causing the wind.

xx

I took the shelf out of the TT steriliser, then dr browns can fit in.

I use Dr Browns and can just about get 4 bottles in a TT steraliser. I hated TT bottles - worse wind making machines ever invented! x

Playtex Drop-ins are good for preventing wind too... you burp all the air out of the bag (plus, you don't have a bottle to clean, the liner is disposed of and you just clean the nipple and ring :) )
Not sure why they're not very popular over there... I know buying the liners is an added expense, but it takes me forever to go through a box so I don't mind.
