This is looong over due, as its been over a month now! But our daughter Marlow Rose was born on June 7th at 12:17 am, weighing 5.6lbs at 33.3 (my due date was always in question, but going by the doctors and ultrasounds it was July 22, 2011) weeks. She didn't require any interventions (IV or oxygen) and spent 20 days in the NICU before coming home. She actually came home the exact day I had my cerclage scheduled for removal, which is SO ODD because I have said (even on here) that she would come home after the stitch was removed....=)
Basically on Sunday June 5th, I had my very first baby shower (I never had one with our son, as he was born at 23.3 weeks!) and when I came home I was sick to my stomach. I thought maybe I peed myself ( I even Facebooked asking for everyone to hope it was pee...LOL ) while throwing up, except it kept coming and something just 'seemed' off. So I did a swab test to see if it was my waters, I had my hubby call L&D because I couldn't remember what colour they said the swab would turn if it was my waters. Sure enough it was the right, or well wrong colour as in I didn't want it to be that colour...and it was my waters. We rushed to L&D where they basically said they would be removing my stitch, as I was contracting (and had been all afternoon, but also since 19 weeks when my stitch was placed) and they didn't want to risk me ripping my cervix (ouch).
That was done that night, very late (maybe even into the next morning!) under a general because spinals never work on me! I felt awful afterwards, my throat was killing me, I was contracting and sore. I had funneling to the stitch, before it came out and dilated 3cm when it was removed (and in labor..I always said I would have her after the stitch was removed..). I had ZERO sleep that night and hadn't slept more than 4 hours in the five days before.....
The next morning my doctor finally came into see me (before then I was just dealing with the doctors who were on call) and she said I would be induced to avoid infection, I was not pleased (I was induced with our son and was hoping for a normal/natural birthing process this time!). But knew it would be best to do it, as I was HORRIBLY infected with chorio with our son (to the point doctors pulled my mom aside and said I might not survive). And I researched chorio a lot after he was born and knew most women who have had it once, have it again. That was not something I wanted for myself or our daughter of course.
I was induced, and made it to 6cm without pain meds (I had planned to go all natural!). At that point I was exhausted both physically and mentally, I started shutting down a bit and broke down and asked for IV pain meds (mostly due to being tired but also because they upped my inducing meds every 20-30 mins!). It didn't help and the nurses finally said "try an epidural" (they have never worked on me either!). I gave in and did it (I think because the doctor who did it was wearing a batman skullcap thingy doctors wear....which is funny since our son is "baby Batman"), I was too tired to argue and knew I couldn't last much longer without some break. I honestly thought it might help me sleep, it didn't. It did work though, too well....they had to keep the induction going at max dose because my contractions slowed down so much!
Anyways...I finally got to the pushing stage and it was well....awful. I broke mentally and started crying that it wasn't fair that I would yet again not have a 'take home baby'. I pushed like a pro for a bit afterwards and then started to feel light headed and just so weak. I basically said "I am too tired to push and I am not sure what to do!". The doctor said I was tired and so was the baby so he would help her out via a vacuum on the next few pushes. I was unhappy about not doing it myself, but thankful as I knew I would never get her out alone.
Marlow was placed on my tummy and came out crying! Her Apgar scores were 8 and 9 (our son's were 4 and 7 which are great for a 23.3 weeker!). She was beautiful (still is!) and so small!
I was in the hospital for three or four nights, and without our baby...again. It utterly broke my heart even though I knew it wouldn't be long before she came home.
She has been home for almost three weeks now and is just amazing. She is a great baby (like her brother was and is, who says you cannot have TWO great/easy babies!), she only cries thus far at feeding times and baths. She's super farty though...LOL (as I type this she is just letting them go!). She has already gained over 1lbs 6oz (at last weeks weigh in) and is fully breast fed. He older brother LOVES her and is doing awesome with her (though a bit bored).
And we are just OVER THE MOON!
Anyways...here she is!

Just a bit of back info, I had a cerclage placed at 19 weeks due to IC. I had my son at 23.3 weeks (likely due to IC and PTL) when I went into (at the time) unexplained labor. I had funneling to the stitch for the last two months of my pregnancy, contractions on and off from 19 weeks, PPROM two days before delivery and 22 weeks of bedrest (16 of which were strict bed rest meaning only on my feet for 10 mins a day!)...and more...however every thing else was normal
