I've had temp dips before but non this massive. I've tried posting my chart but it won't work. Yesterday's temp was 99.7 (no fever ), coverline is 99.4, today's temp is 99.1. What's everyone's opinion on a massive dip?

Hello Angel,
How many days past O are you and do you know your normal lp length? It could mean a lot of things from what I understand. You slept poorly, you woke up to soon, I can imagine if you celebrated the new year last night, it could definitely change things.I didn't even bother temping this morning. It could also indicate the end of the cycle. I have also heard that implantation causes temps to drop but I don't know why or much about that. How long have you been charting?

I'm 6DPO. My lp is 13-15 with most common 14 days. I just recently just started back charting jan/Feb 2015. I use FF and have closed circles. My husband and I just decided to fully ttc for our first back in Dec 2015.

Sounds like it is not the end of your cycle. The temp should go back up. I don't think its that unusual to have a dip. If you keep dropping below your cover line after ovulation, you may want to get your hormones assessed. Its pretty common to have low progesterone. Congratulations on starting out on this journey. These boards are great places to learn about charting etc.

Thanks for the reassurance. Does low progesterone mean I can't get preg?

Hello! Look through some of the ovulatory charts in the FF gallery. You will find a lot of charts with women who have one or even two dips post ovulation. It mat help you feel better.

People with low progesterone levels can definitely get pregnant- there are lots of options for women with low progesterone. Also, I noticed you have a 13-15 day lp. the luteal phase is driven by progesterone and 13 to 15 days is a good sign for progesterone. Like 2 ducks said, a drop here and there is not much to worry about. They can be caused by poor sleep, unusual sleep schedule, taking temps in a different part of your mouth, normal hormonal shifts, all sorts of things. Do you chart with an online program? I know fertility friend lets you post the chart on the forums. If you would like, you could post it.

I thought of one other thing too. Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility or Garden of Fertility? They are great sources of information. The first one I mention goes really in-depth and is very interesting. The second one is not as in-depth but still very informational and a bit easier to get through in my opinion.

UPDATE:
I'm 9DPO and got another dip but not as deep as 6DPO. It's .1 below coverline. I've read that 9DPO is a very common "implantation" dip. I'm not cramping but I'm spotting yellowish discharge(no smell).what do you think?

Hi Angel, 9DPO is around the time implantation happens- I hope that is what your chart is telling you :)

My temp went back up but it's barely above the coverline :(
Coincidentally I'm spotting brown discharge :(

Hi Angel,
Spotting is a tricky one because people can spot if they are pregnant and before their period. Is it normal for you to spot around this time? There still is a chance until you have your full flow. Let me know how it goes for you. Wishing you good luck

I am curious how this worked out for you? I got my first crosshairs with FF last week, but today FF took my crosshairs away because I had too many temps below coverline.

It's been working out well for me. Is there a way to post your chart? Only thing I can think of is if you're taking your temp at a earlier time than usual can cause lower temps. Except during AF I take my temps vaginally and its more consistent for me. Also take your temp before you eat or drink anything.
