I have a MASSIVE fear of C-section and i was just wondering if anyone could help me feel better about it? lol....

My baby is breech at the moment and when the Consultant/ Midwife talks about C Section i feel physically ill....

I got Pre-eclampsia last pregnancy and got offered C section but i declined because i heard the lady in the bed next to me had a consultant talking to her before she went down for one...and i heard him talking all about the risk of blood clots and bleeding heavily etc and it freaked me out so much!

I ended up being induced over 5 days and it was horrible and i wish i had the courage to take the C Section.....

Now this baby is breech ( I know she has a few more weeks but im not too positive) and i might have to book in for C Section and i dont know how im going to cope with it :nope:

Has anyone else got a bad fear and overcome it?

xx

I am going to have my fourth c-section in just over 6 weeks. I am absolutely dreading it, more this time round than before because last time they told me not to have any more children due to the risk of increaased complications. but i took the risk due to having three girls before and wanting a son, but found out that this baby is also a girl. I am feeling very very frightened as time is coming near x

How did your other 3 sections go?

I hope your section in a few weeks goes well x

i wish i could say something to comfort your fears but i had my first section last sunday and it was an emergency one so was worse than a normal one :(

I had an unplanned c section and it wasnt that bad, recovery went well just some pain/soreness at the incision site (which is to be expected) but the pain medicine helped with that, when i got home i only took ibuprofen for pain. Had no problem taking care of little one and breastfeed with no problem. When you get home just take it easy and try not to over do it

I had an elective section a few months ago & was nervous beforehand but I had a really positive experience. I've had worse trips to the dentist than the operation itself and whilst the recovery was hard within a week I was out having lunch and doing some shopping. I never needed more than paracetamol and ibuprofen for the pain once I left hospital and stopped taking those after about 5 days.
I was worried about the risks beforehand but there are risks associated with a vaginal delivery. I've had about 6 or 7 friends all have babies within the last few months and the ones who had the least complications were the ones who had sections. The 2 who had vaginal deliveries had terrible times resulting in one mother and baby being in intensive care for over 2 weeks and the other still being in pain over 2 months later. Obviously a straight forward vaginal birth is best for all concerned but there are no guarantees and a first section is very low risk for mother and baby. I would do it again with no hesitation.

Thank you for replying to my post. Reading your positive time with C Section has really helped me. Thanks x

Thankyou Ruby louise, I really do hope my section goes well, feeling very nervous as time is coming near, only because it is a 4th section.
Ruby, my first section went very well. It was an emergency section after a 48 hour labour. My baby was in distress so they had to rush me in, I was frightened but after they gave me the spinal and my contractions stopped I felt so good and within 10 minutes they gave me the baby. Once you see your baby you forget that you are being operated on. My second c-section was also an emergency one but that went good as well. With my third baby I had a date for my section but I went into labour earlier. After having contractions for 22 hours and labour not progressing I asked for a c-section and was taken in within an hour. my section went really well but wound got infected twice after. This time round i am just very fearful because it is my 4th c-section.
Hope this helps. first and second c-section went very good so try not to worry:hugs:

I had a planned section with my daughter and it was fine. Yes I was uncomfortable for a few weeks afterwards but nothing I couldn't handle. Now this baby is breech so there's a possibility I might need another section and it doesn't faze me at all. In fact I'm looking forward to it.

This makes me feel allot calmer about it, thank you.

I hope your birth or C section goes well xx

I had an unplanned C almost 4 months ago. I feared a C section. But, I did not have the final say. After being 2 weeks overdue and a failed induction, there I was being wheeled off to the theater!

Thinking back, I would not have wanted anything else. I had no pain, other than one little needle prick. I thought it would be like 100% horrible and all that, but I almost feel like we got the "easy way out" (excuse the pun)

I had an emcs and it was wonderful:).it saved my baby's life and it really just hurt for 1 week. The second week I was feeling a lot better. I would do it again:).

I had a c section due to pre-eclampsia. Throughout my whole pregnancy it was my biggest fear but it was no way near as bad as I thought it was.

The actually surgery wasn`t painful, the immediate recovery after the epi wore off was painful and was uncomfortable but I was up using the bathroom in less than 10 hours and I went home pretty early, any discomfort I was able to easily control with pain medication etc..

If I had to have a c-section again I really wouldn`t be devistated at all although I will be trying for a VBAC as I would like a large family and wouldn`t want to limit my family size because of too many csections, and also I was so looking forward to my natural birth that I still hope to experience it!

If you need a c-section I hope that everything will be fine for you x
