On the news today they were talking about the under staffed maternity units and lack of care in the UK.

I was wondering how everyone was feeling about their care, whether you're expecting or have just had a baby. Especially if you're under one of the worse performing hospitals which are Bradford Teaching Hospital, Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Health Care NHS Trust, East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Kettering General Hospital NHS Trust, Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, Milton Keynes General Hospital NHS Trust, Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Trust, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust & pretty much all of the London NHS Hospitals.

I'm under a hospital which isn't doing too badly - the James Paget Hospital but will be moving to Norfolk & Norwich University hospital which also is doing fairly well at the moment but honestly the biggest thing that scares me about the birth is how good the care will be at the hospital. The idea of being left alone in labour and not being monitored well is very scary.

hi anita665.

your near me. im living inbetween dereham and swaffham.
the hospital im going to is queen elizabeth hospital in kings lynn.
im not looking forward to going into hospital to start off with(just dont like hospitals) and then this news comes out.
im dreading it to be honest.

atleast we both know that the hospitals we are going to arnt too bad.they could be worse.

I'll be going to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee (NHS Tayside).
My advantage is the next day after delivery i'll be able to come back to Montrose and stay a few days at the midwife led maternity unit.
That's what I did with Rachel although I stayed at the matty unit for 5 days, they couldn't get rid of me.

I've not heard anything negative about Ninewells, only that it's like a production line, but I would feel more safer actually delivering the baby there just in case.

It's going fine thanks.

We've probably seen each other in the street many times before then but don't even know it. I worked in the local (Threshers) in Dereham for quite a while.

no sorry i cant say ive been into threshers. but yes we could of walked past each other.who knows! x

i'm happy with all the care i'm getting so far

My care was fine APART from one silly bitch when I was 7-8cm in the corridoor, massive contractions and crying because she said "We have nowhere to put you, we don't know what to do" then had the cheek to say "we can't even have our christmas lunch now, because it's too busy..." I wanted to hit her lol.

Im not brilliantly happy with my care. Not from the midwifes or specialists at the hospital anyway. But my GP has been fantastic.

I dont like my midwife. Out of the 5 appointments Ive had, only one has been with her. I think its just a personality clash though. Im having a pretty hard time with my mood swings and being away from my family and she hasn't been very supportive at all.

I had bleeding at 11 weeks and the hospital I went to were awful. They told me I had an ectopic pregnancy, and if not I was having a miscarriage. I was told I had to go back 2 days later for a scan to see what was happening. Everything was fine, but they really worried me. They nearly let me out of the hospital with a needle in my hand too. I had to tell a nurse in a different department that theyd left it in because I was just left. The lady that did the emergency scan was awful as well. This is at St James' in Leeds by the way. Im not having the baby there, but thats where the early pregnancy unit in Leeds is. I went for my 12 week scan at LGI though and the doctor I saw there was absolutely brilliant. Very much looking forward to seeing him on Thursday.

St James also lost my triple blood tests and by the time theyd told me then it was too late for me to have it redone. I was quite upset about it because it was a decision OH and I had given a lot of thought to, so naturally when we decided to have it done we wanted our results, and someones carelessness took that away from us. There was 7 other ladies at my clinic that this had happened to as well.

I just hope theyre a lot better when I actually go into labour!
