Does anyone else feel like maternity leave is just flying by?

Who is going back and who has decided to become a stay at home mum?

Me - it's going too fast :(

I go back in July for the last two weeks of term, then I'll be reducing from fulltime to 3 days from September.

That sounds good MM. I will have to look for a new teaching job as I have moved to a different area - I would like a 2/3 day week as well.

i'm back to work on the 1st of june, only 3days a week and only for 5hours 8.30 til 1.30 my work have been really good cause i used to work fulltime, i wont miss much with jack cause he normaly has a 2hour nap in the morning so will only be away for a couple of hours, then i have tuesday, wednesday and the weekends with him so i'm happy with that, might become a stay at home mum see how it goes, i will miss him so much but nanny will be looking after him.

Hi I have been back at work part time now for nearly a month, part time 3 days a week. I went back a bit early to help them out. I wish I could be a stay at home mum it went far too quickly xx

You're a teacher as well Mrs C! What do you teach? There seems to be a few of us here!

i have decided to be a SAHM, i was teaching sociology in higher ed, but i'm so lucky to not have to go back, i miss my subject, but don't miss work x

Yes it has flown!!!

I am going back to work in May and I'll have been off 10 months by then and Mark will be 9 1/2 months old. I'm going back full time but I work long days/ shifts so it's average 3 shifts per week. I'll see how it goes and maybe apply for part time in the future. It will be nice getting a full wage though as I would earn a good bit more than SMP!

My maternity leave started on 9 January. I had Harry on 7 Feb (he was due on 29th Jan!). I go back to work, working Monday - Thursday on 1 June. I can't afford to have any more time off and am gutted. Whilst i'm looking forward to having some time away from Harry and around adults, I'm not going to cope well leaving him at nursery at all, and am dreading it to be honest. I have to keep reminding myself that me going back to work will mean that we don't have to struggle too much financially, and I can buy Harry lots of nice things. I still think it's ridiculous that I can only afford to have 5 months maternity leave though.

My maternity leave is zooming past  I have been off work since the start of February, and I go back to work in mid-August when Alyssa will be 6 months old. I'll be going back full time, but have the option of discussing a compressed work week with my boss so that my 35 hour week is spread over 4 days rather than 5. Not yet sure if I'll go down that route, as it will mean longer hours on the days I do work, and I'm not sure I like the idea of missing out on her bedtime routine or something 4 days out of 7 so that I can have an extra day off during the week. I figure we're very lucky though as hubby is a stay-at-home dad :)

Im taking 14months off..so i have about a year to go yet...

Sorry this is sort of off topic, but how long do women in the UK get for Mat Leave? Is it a standard block of time or does it depend on how long you've been with a company, or how many hours you put in?

I've always been curious. I've seen in The States that they only get maybe 3 or 4 months Mat Leave? We get a year here (or at least in Ontario.... can't speak for other provinces)
