Hi :-)

Does anyone know anything about the different versions of the pearl (toddler) car seat? Not the 2 way one which twists.

We were going to buy one off the shelf this weekend, but I don't like any of the colours. Superficial I know!

A friend has offered me her old one which I prefer the colour of, I'm perfectly happy there wouldn't be anything wrong with it (or do they 'run out' of safety after a while though? Is there anything really wrong with second hand if you trust the person you buy it from?).

It's the 2010/2011 version... Does anyone know what the differences are between this version and the current one we could buy off the shelf?

We bought pearl second hand from a friend. Not had any problems and saved a lot of money. I know the guidance us to buy brand new but if its not been in an accident and you know that because they are friends its just like you reusing it for your second child in my opinion.
Differences? Is think they are just new colours/ patterns tbh as they still fit same base.

They do have an expiry date as the foam starts to break down after a while. Maybe check on the maxi cosi website. Personally I wouldn't buy secondhand car seats.

Nothing wrong with buying secondhand car seats if you know the history and know for sure it's not been in any sort of accident.

Car seats have expiry dates in some counties but not others. They don't have expiry days in the UK but some manufacturers do recommend you replace after a certain number of years.

If it has a sticker on it that says R44/04 then it meets current regulations in the UK but you may wish to buy new to avoid the risk of potential plastic degradation.
