Hi girls! Just wanted to get some insight. I posted about this yesterday but wanted to get some thoughts onDH and I conceived our first in January which ended in a chemical. Waited one cycle as directed by my OB and 2 cycles of TTC later, still no BFP. Now I know that is very very soon to start looking into IUI. RE ran tests and he told me the reason why I should do it despite the fact that we've technically been only trying for 2 months since my MC...

My FSH was 10- He said it should be only 8 at my age (34), and that means it's my body telling me to hurry as my eggs are older than they should be. This was a total shock to me. I don't really want to do IUI just yet, but if I'm really wasting time, then I don't want it to be 6 mos. down the line that I finally decide we should go forward with it. Should I just go for it? Or despite what my RE recommended, should I just wait another cycle or two to see if we have any luck? Is acupuncture worth trying? Sorry, I just feel like if I wait too long, it might be too late and I might not be able to ever conceive.

How long have you been TTC? We are at 16 months before our first IUI. I know here in Canada they make you wait a full year of trying naturally before any interventions.

We've only been TTC 2 months since my miscarriage. And I thought it was jumping the gun when my doc suggested it. But the reason he suggested I start IUI now is because I have high FSH, my eggs are acting older than they should and I could have a difficult time down the road so he said I should just start now.

I think TTC is emotionally draining- I personally would want to do whatever gets you pregnant the quickest- and the IUI will up those chances.. IUI was a breeze as well.. I'm definitely a fan as it worked 1st try for me!

It's certainly NOT too late hun... I'm 37, and after TTC for so long we finally saw a FS and I found out I had higher FSH as well (14!!!!)- but we were able to conceive our 2nd cycle with IUI. So it certainly can happen. Honestly though, a level at 10 is not THAT bad... it's barely over what is considered "normal" (<10). I had to get my FS to explain it a bit more to me as I was concerned... but really, it also depends on how many follicles you produce each cycle. I only produced 6 the month we conceived- so my odds of a "good egg" being released was very slim- like 5%! Crazy huh?

I would get some additional tests ran first before worrying too much or taking the next step with IUI. See if they can do an HSG (dye test) to check your uterus/ovaries are clear and all good there... they can also do an early scan (CD3) to check and see how many follicles you are producing. If that all looks good- then you should still have a good chance at conceiving naturally... although, the truth is that IUI will give you better odds. Because you'll be on fertility drugs (most likely Clomid)- this can help your egg production and getting the sperm up in their higher just gives you better odds...

There is SO much that can be done these days if needed... I would just get a few more tests done now so you know what your working with. Maybe even get OH tested to make sure all is good on his end as well.

This WILL happen hun... sending you all the best of luck!!!!!
