Can your child be left handed if both you and OH are right handed??:blush:

I really have no clue! DD1 is right handed like us both.. but I've noticed that DD2 seems to use her left hand for colouring, drawing etc..

Maybe, my parents are right handed and I'm ambidextrous

Apparently it's possible but unlikely. I looked this up when our LO seemed to be favouring her left hand for her spoon, and according to the baby manual, a child doesn't generally settle on a dominant hand till they're about three.

^WSS :)

My LO uses either hand at the moment. My husband was left handed as a child, but they "corrected" him at school to use his right hand :dohh: Now he writes with his right hand, but does most things with his left.

My parents are both right handed but my brother and 1 of my sister is left handed.

Yes it is possible, being left-handed is a recessive trait and both parents could have a gene for left-handness even if they are right handed. I think it would be more likely for two righties to have a lefty child is they have family members that are left-handed.

I am left-handed and my husband is right-handed so I guess in theory my son could be either. I think he will be right-handed though because he seems to prefer it in everything he does despite being around me all day and seeing me use my left hand for everything :p

Yep, I'm left-handed but my parents both right-handed. I'd be really happy if Euan turns out to be left handed. At the moment he seems to be favouring his right but it doesn't really matter - so long as he can use his hands to do what they need to do I'm happy :)

Yes it's definately possible. Left handedness is a recessive gene. Both parents can carry the recessive gene, even if they express the dominant gene (right handedness.) If both parents carry the recessive gene, then it can be passed down to their offspring. There is only a 25% chance that this will happen though.
