Hi, just had mw appointment and for the last 3 months I have always measured 2wks ahead. I know its only an estimate and also as im a bigger lady some of my weight is measured in as well, but I cant understand how within the space of 3 wks ive jumped from 2wks ahead to 10wks, it was the same mw measuring me so I cant even say that 2 different people have measured me differently, I have been booked in for growth scan next week and I heard my mw on the phone booking it saying to the lady that it was a major jump and im nearly off the chart. Has anyone else ever had a big jump like this

If she's going by her tape measure then it's very common for them to get it wrong.
My midwife laughed when she got it four weeks ahead, then said, let's try again shall we and she went with the lower version.
Extra scan won't hurt, get to check everything's fine etc.
They'll make sure baby is growing well, lots of babies have a varied amount of amniotic fluid x

Yup! Had it with my DS. I was measuring 3 weeks ahead and then all of a sudden 10 weeks ahead! Then it gradually came back down... Until I was back to 3 weeks ahead.
Still not sure why.
DS was 2 weeks late and only 7lb 15oz... So normal sized... And he's now a fantastic bouncing 2 year old!

Thankyou so much that makes me feel a lot better, I know they only estimate it but I was just so concerned as jumping up to 10 wks seemed a lot. I carried a lot of water with my dd so I am hoping its just that. Thanks for replying x
my bump jumps around with the measurements A LOT!! it seems to depend how LO is sitting, whether she jerks her bum out, squirms sideways all that sort of stuff. It usually comes back down the next week. I haven't been 10 weeks out though.
A growth scan is a great idea just to double check any other reason for the sudden growth.

with first two I started measuring some 4 weeks ahead starting around the 30 week mark. did growth scans just bigger babies...they weighed in at 8lb10oz and 8lb4oz. then with #3 I measured about 6 weeks ahead at about 35 weeks. did the scan and found out I had too much amniotic fluid. about 24cm is the cut off of normal...mine was 34cm! and only kept getting more! at delivery suppose to have 1.5-2lt I had over 5lt almost 3 times as much...and a 8lb11oz baby......
this time around I am measuring pretty big. about a week and half ago I had to go to the dr two days in a row. first day saw the PA who I have seen this whole time at 27w I measured 35! 4 weeks before hand there was no mention of me measuring big. next day saw the DR and she got the same measurement. bc baby has dilated kidneys I got referred over the high risk OB I see them tomorrow and will have another scan done. 4 weeks ago my amniotic fluid was a 22cm so we will see how much that increased.
