i was just wondering if there's any ladies out there that have been diagnosed with PCOS and given metformin... if so did it help you have regular AF after having none of very long cycles?

any info would be much apreciated thanks :flower:

this is exactly what id love to know, as iv been diagnosed with pcos and ive been given metformin, would be very curious to know when af came for you ladies. x

i've asked my FS and she seems very hopfull that loosing weight and metformin will bring on regular cycles i remain very optimistic about it as i don't have AF without medication ...

i've been on metformin 4 weeks now and lost 3kg however no AF as yet

hi ladies, I got diagnosed with PCOS in Aug this yr, having been tking the met now since then, im taking 1500mg a day, this cycle i used Soy iso days 3-7 and have had ov confirmed by FF for CD21 which inc all other signs such as EWCM, +OPK's and CP position was really good. My last cycle lasted 62days! i oved on CD50!! with using the soy iso and met this brought ov down to CD21. I am 3DPO today.

Not sure if it was the met or soy that helped or the combination of the two! sorry i cant be more help but i know there are women on here that have used met alone and its regulated their cycles back to 28days xxx

thanks ... i'm also trying soy this cycle and nothing yet but i'll keep trying it for a few cycles maybe it will work combined with metformin i've tried clomid before and it didn't work

Hi, I have PCOS but am not overweight. My FS gave me Metformin (3rd ICSI cycle) to control my PCOS to get a better chance for the embryo to implant.

Your Doc has a point. In general, too much weight can stop ovulation. By giving Metformin to control PCOS, hence decreases weight can lead to ovulation.

Wishing you all the very best.

hey kissy, clomids not worked for me either. I am waiting for an appointment for OD. I have been told that other than the OD and a bit more clomid that is all the NHS will offer!

I too have pcos I am not sure about IR but think its comes hand in hand with pcos. Im am going to make a docs appointment next week to see if I can get tested?

Was just wondering why you have been prescribed metformin, is it because you are insulin resistant?

unfortunately metformin didnt really do much for me. clomid at 100g did make me ovulate.

i had several blood tests in fact i had them every fortnight for almost 6 months n finally got to see a specialist at the hospital who said she's run tests and she basically said that women with PCOS have shown to have much improvement once given metformin as IR could be the cause of weight gain that can cause PCOS or IR that causes PCOS and so the weight gain or u have PCOS and develop IR either way studies have shown them to be linked and think i actually have IR as i show all the signs of it and taking met has helped loads even tho its only been 4 weeks
