Hello All! Hubby and I have been TTC #1 for about 5 months now with no luck. I had very irregular cycles after going off BC for about 3 months and then my period just stopped! I haven't had it for almost 2 months. Went to my regular doc to see if she had any insight(my GYN couldn't see me till mid November!!). She did some tests and my liver enzymes were high and my insulin resistance was was in the normal/high range. So my doc put me on Metformin. Has anyone had any success with this? She mentioned that most women ovulate within 2 weeks of starting it.

I am so discouraged. I have to go in for a liver ultrasound on Saturday to make sure everything is okay with my liver. Has anyone had this problem?? I've heard that it could be a sign of PCOS but my doctor hasn't officially diagnosed me with anything.

Sorry...didn't mean to write so much!! I just don't know anyone else who have had the same issues as me.

Thanks!!

Kellie

Hey Hun didn't wanna Read & Run.
Im Taking Metformin....The reason I started taking it was because I was diagnosed with PCOS and being insulin resistant. I "think" I ov'd but not to sure since im not being monitored. And like they say just because you get a + opk doesnt means that you have indeed ov'd.

And don't feel down hun....just think positive this just means your getting closer to getting your :bfp::hugs:

it usually takes 90 days on metformin combined with an extremely high dose to create ovulation with it. i have been on it for about 4 months now and i ovulated last month and the month before on it. i take 2000 mg per day so quite high dosage as well. I did not become pregnant with metformin only (my doc seems to think theres too much time between the start of my cycle and my O date, and my lining isnt sufficient by the time implantation would occor) so i was given clomid this month.
there are tons of ladies on here who get pregnant with metformin only, and 5 months trying isnt very long. keep trying, give the metformin a decent amount of time to work, and then go back after 4-5 cycles with the met. you should be able to tell a difference in your cycles by the second or 3rd one.
