Microsoft Office

I've been putting off buying this for so long as its so expensive but can't avoid it any longer. Does anyone have any recommendations of where to buy - the prices online vary so much and I'm easily confused I really just need the basic home version

Have you tried Open Office? It's a free version of MS office and its pretty much the same in my opinion.

I use libre office - its free and can save docs as word docs if need to open on diff computer etc.

Thanks ladies, probably a silly question but do PowerPoint presentations transfer over?

Open Office is very good. I use it, and yes powerpoint presentations will open, and can be created in Open Office Impress. You just need to select to save your work in .ppt format.
