what have you guys got?

not sure which one to get, always thought and had electric but my friend was telling me how much easier microwave ones are

I've got electric, as you can fit more in it!! I use MAM bottles and there are SIX parts to each bottle lol so I need a big steriliser to fit them all in (although they are self-sterilising in the microwave so in theory I don't need one at all!!!) :flower:

I have an electric one too - it's good but I find you do have to clean it very regularly otherwise it leaves residue on the bottles. I use Tommee Tippee ones and my steriliser is Avent.

They don't 'fit' as in slot into the holes but they definitely fit in there. I usually put lids and other bits such as the teat holders etc on the bottom shelf, the bottles themselves in the middle bit and teats and anything left on the top.

We really went back and forth on this but in the end we bought a microwave one. Mostly it was because it was significantly cheaper. I had also read that you have to clean the electric sterilizers quite often to keep them in good working condition which helped sway our decision towards the microwave one. The one we bought won't hold as many as the electric ones we were looking at but we should be able to get all the bottles done within 15 minutes or so I would say? They don't have to be in the microwave for an overly long period of time.

I have a microwave steriliser.. just because it was waaaaay cheaper than an electric!! I haven't used it yet of course though.

When Tattie was expecting Kaylum I bought her an electric one for her house and a microwave one to travel around with when she went visiting ....

The first time she used the microwave one was at my house and she promptly managed to put my microwave onto combi and melted both the steriliser itself and four complete bottles :dohh::haha:

I replaced it with another electric one :winkwink:

I have an Avent microwave one that was £10 in the Asda baby event

I really couldn't fault it, it's really easy to clean, portable, it takes 4 mins in the microwave and my Nuk bottles fit into it perfectly. It lives in the microwave so it's out of sight mostly

Also to add about the Avent electric one, I think it's promoted as sterilising in 8 minutes. But I really don't think that's right - it seems to take around 15 mins each cycle.

I use the Avent electric steriliser but i'm not 100% happy with it and considering replacing with a microwave one. It's meant to take 6 bottles but it's a tight squeeze and personally i don't like putting in more than 5. Mine also seems to take longer than the 8 minutes it claims. Also it builds up with limescale quickly even though i live in a soft water area :dohh:. I think the microwave ones remain sterile for longer too x

if ur from the uk argos have the TT closer to nature micro steriliser on special at 9.99 atm.

i had electric and it was sooo big and bulky and ugly i bought a micro one almost immediately, much handier xxx

I have an avent electric one, got it in the tescos sale it was half price... Its good does the job in 9 mins I believe???? :) x

I use the Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser. Takes 8 minutes to do 4 bottles. I can't fault it and way cheaper than electric.

£65 - free delivery tommee tipee starter thing
Box Contains
# 1 x Electric steam steriliser - use microwave one
# 1 x Travel steriliser - wouldn't use
# 1 x Electric bottle and food warmer - wouldn't use
# 2 x 150 ml bottles with slow flow teats - 0m+ - these bottles I stopped using at 4 weeks when LO started drinking 6oz# 4 x 260 ml bottles with slow flow teats - 0m+ - still using
# 2 x Medium flow teats - 3-6m - started using these at 6 weeks# 2 x Fast flow teats - 6m+ - haven't used yet
# 4 x Milk storage lids - don't use# 6 x Milk powder dispensers - 0m+ - these are fab
# 2 x Insulated bottle bags - I've got these but hardly use them
# 1 x Bottle and teat brush - use all the time

So I think if bought individually will work out cheaper.

im in agreement with zinky i think too, i fed lo at room temp, so never needed bottle warmers or insulated bags. all i used was steriliser £10 which came with a free bottle dummy and brush. formula in the powder dispensers £3 then tapped them into room temp bottles £13 when needed. So £26 is all i would spend. Teats i did throw a pack into shopping every week from she wss newborn so when she turned 3 months i had all the next teats ready. :D

its weird cos its hard to know what YOU will actually do/use xx

I would buy individually too. You may find that a different brand of bottle suits better, I stocked up on Avent bottles and they didn't suit my Lo at all x
