Well I've noticed over the last few weeks that my milk is drying up:hissy: Kaya's still nursing about 6 times a day, but she can't be getting much. I'm only about 14 weeks and apparently the milk isn't likely to come back (as colostrum) until the 3rd tri, Kaya may end up weaning herself

Well she's now down to one nursing session a day first thing in the morning and that seems to be it. My baby's growing up

Don't know what to say i just want to give you a big :hugs:

 How's she doing with the cows milk now? x

Lol, I haven't really tried. I suppose I'd better start offering it more often now.

I'm hoping Sam will start drinking it just in case my milk dries up too... I did give him a taste a couple of weeks ago and he didn't seem impressed at all
Good luck! x

After 12months they don't take on nearly as much as they did previously and to be honest most babies would probably only have milk twice a day at this stage (morning and night) and your milk supply will naturally start to slow down. As you say she's feeding about 6times a day, maybe she's not feeding and is just using you as a pacifier:baby: Also at this stage of breastfeeding your "let down" reflex isn't felt as strongly as it used to be and it may be that you just don't feel it in the same way....not necessarily that your milk is drying up.

I breastfed while pregnant and didn't feel the let down reflex as much as I had previously but I was still expressing at this time and still managed to fill a bottle even though I didn't actually feel as "full" as I had previously.

Good luck babe....do what's right for you and your children:hugs:

It's definitely drying up, up until a couple of weeks ago you could hear her swallowing and if I tried I could still get 'jets' of milk coming out (never been any good at expressing) now it just seeps or drips if I try. She's always been really attached to the breast but she's suddenly dropped down to once a day. I'm waiting to see if she stops completely or if she's going to wait it out until the milk comes back lol.

I'm pretty sure mine's drying up now too :( ...I was really hoping we wouldn't have to stop yet but Sam doesn't seem to be gulping any more, even though he will still feed.

Guess I'd better start trying him on cow's milk again now. Hope Kaya's ok on it if you do have to stop breastfeeding x

She was ill over the weekend with the cold so wanted to nurse more often, but she hasn't fed since 12am last night. Strangely enough, she's now quite happy to drink cows milk lol. Hope your milk sticks around Sam's mum, it's crap when you're not quite ready to wean. Still if they do I suppose it'll make it easier once the next one comes along.

I did think that - as upset as I'll be about it I think I'd prefer it if he weaned himself, rather than having to make him stop if I need to. I've bought some cows milk for him today so I'll give him another taste tomorrow and see what he thinks of it. Tempted to have a guinness but probably not a good idea while I'm pregnant?! He's 1 on Thursday anyway so I'm happy to have made it to a year. I'm glad Kaya's ok with the cows milk :D x
