I exclusively BF but feel I need to get a formula ready for when I change him over.

He has been to hospital with reflux and constipation and we were told there that he possible had cmpi. I had suspected this and removed all dairy from my diet at 2 weeks. He improved but reflux still needed to be treated.

At the weekend I ate out for my husbands birthday. I told the restaurant I needed everything dairy free due to intolerance but I think they have had butter/milk in the food as LO has been unwell.

My HV wants me to try comfort lactose free to determine if its lactose or dairy intolerance. I did suspect lactose but as LO has appeared to have a cold/congestion I'm now suspecting dairy.

For those whose babies have dairy intolerance what formula do you use? I have heard such awful thins about nutrimogen (babies refusing it because of disgusting taste) so what are the other options if he won't take this?

I feel a bi trapped as I'm starting to feel like I should BF up until he's weaned but its difficult to remove dairy. Don't get me wrong if I have to I will as I have don't for 3 months so far I can go another 3 months but would be nice to add a bottle so I know I can have a drink of alcohol over Xmas etc.

Hi hun, we use neocate on prescription, we never had any probs getting her to take it, I think the younger they are the easier it is :) x x x

DD was on enfimal O-Lac and had no problems on it. GP said she would probably grow out of it by about 6 months. Was fine went started to give her yogurt and cheese. Switched her to cows milk at 10 months and everything has been fine. GOOD LUCK!!!

We use Nutramigen Lipil 1, anything else just makes him ill. Tbh all the hypoallergenic milks taste awful. We weaned him onto it over a week or so, just replacing one scoop of his normal milk, then two etc, I guess you could do that with breast milk, just add an ounce of water and an scoop of powder. Will wasn't keen to begin with, but takes it fine now.

My son was put on Aptamil pepti at 11 weeks. It stopped his excessive crying but his eczema, congestion, refulx etc... continued. We were then moved onto Neocate at 13 weeks, no issues with him taking either and he's been on it since....until a dreaded 4 weeka ago! He got poorly and was off all food/formula. Since then he's refused his bottle and won't take milk from a cup. He gags at the tastes of the neocate (must realise its VILE)
He is now on Neocate spoon with is a flavorless formula thats given in a spoonable consistancy x

We are on neocate lcp which doesnt taste that bad (I tried it) but he hates milk and the bottle so I make it into yogurt by adding cornstarch and fruit so he thinks he is eating soilds. Best way to get formula into him. But the formula isnt that bad he is the same way with bm.

Oh god I think its vile!! haha! Thats what Neocate spoon is for and is the same consistency as yogurt, but much higher in nutrients and calories then lcp so you dont need to give them 20oz worth. He has 1 shachet a day which I split into 2 yogurt type desserts with him (although it mixes into anything - genuis stuff!) could save you the job of making it yourself. I get it on perscription in addition to the LCP which we still try to hide in his food x

My LO is on Nutramigen Lipil 1 and we've had no problems getting her to take it. We switched cold turkey to it from breastmilk 2 weeks ago. Mind you, she just seems addicted to eating and seems to want to take anything we offer her (I'm not talking food, I'm talking in terms of Gaviscon, Ranitidine, Lactulose and everything else she has been prescribed along the way whilst eliminating what was causing her problems!)

Neocate def. we have had alot of problems from he was born. Changed to cow and gate comfort then aptimal petit I think it was then finally Neocate. It was the only 1 which has helped. My lo lost weight and wasn't gaining too. When he was born he was on 75th centile then dropped just under 25th. He has been on Neocate 8 months and he has finally reached 75th centile again and been discharged from his consultant :)

I am in the USA and we had to use Alimentum at first because my LO did not respond to elimination diet. It is expensive and smells horrible but it helped her a lot. Now she has gone on to Similac Sensitive and is mostly better.

good luck!

I understand your problem, my baby has just been diagnosed with cows milk intolerance and ive got to get her onto formula before i go back to work. Been giving her the normal stuff (apamil) and it has really upset her bowels :( She enjoys it though at the time. Im asked about prescribing a lactose free formula and doc just said they sell stuff at the pharmacy. Ive looked and can only see SMA lactose free so am gonna try that for a bit see how it goes...

Haha, mine too! He seems to love the taste of both the domperidone and the ranitidine, strange boy:haha:

My lo has been on Nutramigen AA since 2 months old (she was first tried on Nutramigen Lipl from approx 4 weeks) and she did refuse it quite a bit at first but soon realised it was either that or be hungry. Lol. She is still on it now but we are in the process of trying to get her to drink coconut or oat milk

xx

Izzy tried sma lf, sma wysoy, nutramigen and is now settled on neocate.

I think neocate taste alot better than nutramigen. After the first feed being abit iffy Izzy didn't really mind the taste.

She is lactose, cmp and soya intolerant x

we use nutramigen, only took 3 weeks to get her to take it with out her old formula.

does anyone know if they outgrow this? and when
