MIL noticed how long LO feeds and said: "Oh well, you can just unlatch her whenever you feel it's been too long and you need a break. For starters, I wasn't complaining. She just felt the need to say that because she wasn't able to hold her, because I had to breastfeed her. Never mind that I had 3 full bottles of pumped breast milk in the fridge that I had ready just for her, but she didn't want to bottle feed LO. :dohh:
I would love to listen to her since she breastfed DH for 3 years, but she has loads of really old school advice. This includes smacking the baby if she bites.

Oh dear lol... Some check out attendant asked me the other day if lo is sleeping through the night...

I said no bf babies this young need a night feed ... She insisted they didn't telling me she had to pinch bother her children to wake them even in the day for feeds.....
Then insisted I put a hot water bottle in lo's bed as it will def make him sleep through the night from now on....

Lol some people are just a bit silly ... She was obviously someone's mum or mil so it does extent to family hahah

i feel sorry for the babies of these women. i do wonder if people genuinely believe the advice they are giving is good.

I don't think they were intentionally being bad parents.

The advice now is SO different from when we were babies.

No doubt we'll tell our kids things that'll drive them crazy.

My mum and mil are desperate for me to give DD water. Uh, no thanks.

But they gave it to us and we made it here ok.

Wow, water! That's weird. My pediatrician specifically told me "no water!" She kind of just randomly threw it out there during one appointment.

Stupid unwanted advice... We all get it, just ignore.
I was told yesterday from a woman (friend of a friend, we were all having dinner together) that my baby boy cries because his testicles are descending.
For starters my baby didn't cry at all during dinner, he was all smiles and he napped. Second his testicles didn't need to descend as he was full term, his testies are perfect. Third, he was in no pain/discomfort. IDK why she felt to tell me that. I just replied "Really??? I didn't know that"

But usually people LOVE to dig up something could be wrong with our babies to freak us out. It's their own insecurities and or jealousy that cause that. Close your ears and go Lalallaaalallaaa!!!

ahh the lovely the advice we get on breast feeding lol. My lo self weaned at 22 months so we had the advice for a long time, when my lo was 6 weeks my mil told me lo was feeding to much and I should not feed her lol (she was feeding every 20 minutes to an hour, I hadn't complained but she felt the need to comment), I was also told she should be weaned onto food by 8 weeks. Just block it out as you are doing a good job

My mil keeps telling me he only wakes up at night to ' comfort feed' erm yeah ok that's why I hear him swallowing for 15/20 minutes!
Oh and she also said ' you never know your milk might dry up at 3 months'
Wow thanks for that
