Does anyone use one of these all the time or just for travel?

Am I right in thinking you just wash bottles and throw them in and then 15 mins later you can take em out and just use them?

Is the container travel proof, ie can you put it in the car without worrying about lid coming off?

Is a 5 litre tub big enough?

Any advice on using them? Any pros and cons?

That's my understanding of how it works. I've bought a Milton Solo for travel but I haven't used it yet, that's just for a single bottle but it is watertight. You can download all the instructions from Miltons website. Milton-tm.com (sorry I can link it properly I'm on my phone).

We bought a Milton bucket for travelling with dd at 5 months. Loved it so much we gave up with the electric one and have cold sterilised since. The lid flips round so there's a grill or a full edge to stop the fluid coming out and the handle rotates to lock the lid on. We drove all the way down to the Swiss border with one of these in our front footwell and it was fine. I won't guarantee it's watertight though. All you need to do is fill the bucket, pop in a tablet, let it dissolve, add bottles and leave for 15 mins. Stuff stays sterile as long as its in the liquid and the solution is good for 24hrs so you can add and remove as much as you want/need. Or alternatively leave them in for 15 mins and put together like you would from an electric steriliser.

Thanks ladies :)

I'm travelling with LO up to see grandparents at weekend and so am happy to hear it works like this.

I was contemplating selling my electric one and replacing it with this one seen as it works so well... Fed up of waiting for bottles to cool down to make them

I cold-sterilise with Milton and I love it! So much easier I think

We use ours all the time.... I had a steam steraliser but it was so much faff as all the bottles wouldnt fit. The cold water steraliser is sooooooo much better.
I put a tablet in every evening with all bottles and this lasts 24 hours, I take the bottles out and make 3-4 at a time in advance.

My mum also bought one for when we stay with her.

I use milton tablets but not the bucket as I couldn't find one in stock. I use the boots cold sterlising bucket. But yeah, ready in 15 minutes and the solution is sterile for 24 hours, I think it's brill.

I wouldn't trust its water tightness in a bumpy cardrive - we tend to sterilise the bottles, build them all up so they're sealed (in case we need to use any en route), put them in the empty steriliser bucket, and then first thing we do when we get to our destination is fill the bucket with water+solution. Since it's a 15 minute jobbie to get them sterilised - as long as we don't prat around drinking cups of tea for 2 hours and get the steriliser filled and sorted as one of the first things on arrival - it's not a problem.

The 5litre tub (we've got the Milton branded one) holds three Avent bottles in bits and a multitude of dummies comfortably, four at a push - but we just have a system whereby we wash up bottles, leave them on the bench drainer (apart from teats and colic rings which I tend to just chuck straight in to sterilise as they're smaller bits and can get lost easier) and as we take a bottle out of the steriliser, we put another one in to do.

I have this! I have always used cold water and will do again. Its so easy.

I'm using one, find it so easy, they do smell a bit bleachy but the instructions say no need to rinse and lo has never been bothered by it. I love that you can re use it all day.

I use the tablets and cold water. Don't have one of the proper containers though just use a washing up bowl and change every 24 hours.

:)

I love the smell of the stuff when you open the lid on a hot sticky summer's day... it's like sniffing a lovely fresh (don't think of all the people who've peed in it) swimming pool!
