I'm 11 weeks pregnant, first pregnancy and a few days ago(3, now) I started some extremely light bleeding - dark brown. Nothing I really was going to worry about because everything still felt fine. I went in to see my doctor yesterday, explained my worries but she did little to help. In fact, all she really told me was a miscarriage would be inevitable if it were to happen. Nothing to really help with the nerves.. She did a quick exam, said I still 'seem' like I'm 11 weeks along and sent me on my way.

I can't judge anything with cramping, because for the past while I've had little cramps here and there. Unfortunately the just after I went to visit my doctor the bleeding picked up. She did do a pap smear and this time it was a mix of bright red and dark brown. Over the course of the night some clotting happened, but now that I've been awake for a few hours that seems to have tapered off.

I'm at a loss as to what to do right now. :|
Every where I turn the word 'miscarriage' keeps popping up and it's freaking me out. D: This is my first pregnancy and I don't really have anywhere to turn to for guidance right now. I have to book another appointment with her just to try and see if I can get any tests done, and the ER seems very lacking in the help department. As far as I've heard, they'll do as much as my doctor has.

How scary! I find it strange they didn't give you a scan/ultrsound to check on baby. I'd go back and insist on one of those--there may not be anything they can do to stop it if it's happening, but at least you would know. Sending good thoughts your way!

Does your hospital have a maternity day assessment unit? or a early pregnancy unit if so phone them....... if not phone the labour ward and explain what is going on to the triage mid-wife......
they may tell u to go in and be checked over when ever i have had bleeds thou my pregnancy they have always called me in to be monitored and checked over ..... fingers are crossed for u :hugs:

I suggest you also call around because im surprised she didnt do a quick ultrasound. Spotting and cramping is normal in the beginning so hope all is well :flower:

I experienced cramping and bleeding when I was 6-7 weeks along - blood was mostly brown (and not a huge amount of it) but I then lost a little bit of red blood too. They did an ultrasound and there was still a heartbeat. It may be worth seeing if they can do an ultrasound to see what's going on. It may be something innocuous. Unfortunately, there is nothing the doctors can really do if you are starting to miscarry (I'm sorry to say that and hopefully what you are experiencing is not the start of a miscarriage, but just some unexplained bleeding). I miscarried my first pregnancy (so strictly speaking this is my second) at about 10 weeks - my symptoms were cramping that got worse and worse over about four days. I had no bleeding at all until it came in a sudden gush. Your symptoms sound a bit like my 'implantation' type bleeding was. I also suffered from awful period type cramping until I got into the second trimester - two days before my 13 week scan I was crying my eyes out as I had such awful period type pain that I was sure I must have been miscarrying or about to miscarry - but when they did the scan two days later, everything was fine.

Sorry if this sounds really rambling, I suppose what I'm trying to say is that sometimes the bleeding doesn't mean anything too much and try not to panic. I'd definitely try to get an ultrasound if you can - it will definitely give you peace of mind if you see baby's heartbeat.

Hoping for a positive outcome for you.

Are you in the UK? Call your EPU, That is what i did with my first pregnancy, they gave me lots of scans and were very helpful. my last pregnancy i used my MW who was useless. I said i was crapping and she said its normal, it may of been, but it didnt help when i did MC.

Anyway, There is hope, i bled lots with my first pregnancy and i now have a wonderful 16 month old.

Call the EPU

Defo need to get checked out either by bloods or ultra sound. When I had mc it felt like a 30 stone man kicking me in the stomach difficult to move literally so much pain. You can have unknown reasons for bleeding and still be prego so fingers crossed for you at this difficult time xxxxx
