I am so sad, after bleeding since Monday last week - no cramps or clots - had scan today and doc said no heartbeat and I have had a "missed miscarriage" - seems baby stopped developing at 8 weeks and I thought I was 11+3 today but its still inside.

Got to go in on Thursday for surgical evacuation - please can someone tell me about this - does it hurt, how long afterwards before you feel ok down there etc

I cant stop crying :cry::cry::cry:

Oh hun,

I posted in your other thread.

Just wanted to give your more

Hi firstimer - am so sorry for you loss and understand your distress at the thought of the surgery so I'll let you know my experiences.

I've had two mc, one a mmc and the other a blighted ovum both times they weren't diagnosed until around the same time as yours. Both times I had no bleeding and so had to have D&C's. I had to take medication to soften my cervix prior to the ops but maybe because you've been bleeding you might not take this I'm not too sure?. The operation is over quickly and I found it to be relatively painless from a physical perspective both times.

I hope this will put your mind a bit more at ease with regard to pain and the physical side of things etc....xx

I had almost the same thing happen to me. I went for my 12 week scan, but hadn't had any bleeding or cramps, to find out the baby had died at 7 weeks 2 days. I opted for the surgical option. They basically wheel you down, next thing you know, you're waking up. Pain wise, didn't have any apart from what felt like mild period pains - no pain at all "down there". Bled on the first day, although not that heavily and then for about 10 days after. My first period arrived 5 weeks exactly afterwards.

So sorry for your loss. Know exactly what you are going through. I found out the day before xmas eve and had to wait almost a week to have my op. I had the worst xmas ever but I feel better about it now and ready to start trying again. If you need to talk or have any questions, feel free to pm me xxx

I don't have any experience of surgery following a miscarriage but i read your post and just wanted to say i'm very sorry to hear of your loss and sending hugs your way :hugs:

I'm sorry i can't be more help, i hope everything goes ok for you.

hi hunni,

I had a D+C on 12th Jan after finding out over New Year that i have had a MMC with twins. This was my second D+C. I cannot remember much of my first D+C, i think my bleeding stopped more or less strait away, it was ten years ago, and i have a bad memory!

This time round it has been different, i bled for two weeks although it was a stop and flood type thing (dont want to scare you i am just being honnest). Afterthe first few weeks i just spotted for another two. I had mild cramping pains until i got by BFN and stopped bleeding on the fourth week.

I was infomred that in some women with their secondD+C and onwards bleeding can take a while longer to settle down.

I decided to have the D+C again as i was not bleeding or having cramps so like you i was unaware and still felt pregnant (and did not want to accept that i had lost my babies). I also chose not to see the physical image of passing the babies, and wanted them sent to histology for tests. (which have all come back clear and normal).

I am in the 6th week after my D+C and we are trying again. We have not forgetten our two angel babies and they will never be replaced. But we are both physically and emotionally ready to start again.

If you ever need to talk then PM me hun, i dont mind.

Although i will say the bad and the good as i am that sort of person! (although my opinion is purely what i have been through or advice i have been given)....

Sending lots of support and hugs

Vik

Hello sweety

My 2nd miscarriage was a missed m/c. I opted for the operation but I had passed most of the pregnancy by then.

The operation itself was pretty painless and I just bled alot afterwards. Got my AF roughly 4 weeks afterwards.

Take lots of big sanitary towels with you and dont wear tampons afterwards.

Thinking of you xxxx

Everyone else hass said pretty much all there s to say, dont worry about surgery as has been mentioned above its short and mostly people just have period type pains, that was my experience both times- i found it a bit tough emotinally o the day so take someone with you if you can, sorry you had to go through this

Hun, so sorry you have to go through this as well.

I had a D&C a week ago Friday. I went into theatre at 3pm and was back in the ward just before 4pm. I think the anasthetic they give you is quite light as I came round feeling okay and quite quickly.

My tummy was a little sore for the first day after that but by the sunday I was fine, physically. I just took it really easy for the 48hrs afterwards.

I didn't have any pain down there even when going to the loo, I did expect it to sting but it didn't. It was a little tender when we BD again but just take it slowly at first and after a couple of times it did get easier.

That would be my 5th/6th D&C and each time has been much the same, some times tummy sorer than others but not bad bad pain or anything just dull ache for no more than a day.

Hope it goes ok for you hun, perhaps ask for something to calm you before going into theatre, I did as I'm terrified of the sight of theatre and also I was very emotional.

You will be ok hun. Thinking of you x

don't worry about the op, the nurses are very nice and its painless. Just take your bloke and a nice dressing gown and slippers! The worst thing (physically) is not being able to eat all day! I've had 3 M/Cs and 2 of them needed D&Cs. Bleeding should stop within 2 weeks but if it doesn't go back to your GP - my first one they didn't get everything out and I bled for 5 wks and eventually I ended up having mild contractions and passing clots - all very painful! The 2nd D&C went very smoothly and after 2 days of heavy bleeding it was then light and all finished within about 10 days. Good luck, you'll be fine xx

Im so sorry darling, I had one in aug and you might have period cramps after and slight bleeding :hugs: xx

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your replies and I am feeling a bit less hysterical about it all today. I am so very sorry for all of your losses and hopeful for next time when we're able to try - we both want to try as soon as we can to get pg again.

Thanks again and for sharing what I can expect after the D&C xxxx

I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. Hang in there. I promise that eventually it will get easier.
