Hi,

I really need some advice RE combining bottle and breast feeding.

We were combining both quite well. But then I had a couple of busy days and I ended up giving him bottles instead of breastfeeding when I usually would.

He is so much more settled on formula and we have a routine :happydance: BUT I feel guilty for not giving him more breastfeeds. He gets so much comfort from it and I know breast is best and all that. I just feel like I need to get it sorted properly before I affect my milk supply too much.

Basically, I'm wondering what other mix feeders do routine wise? As much information as possible please!

Are you able to express? I did this for 10 weeks as I found it too sore to put LO one me a lot of the time but not everyone is successful at this.

What I do now is BF during the night and first feed of the day and give formula the rest of the day. My body has now adjusted so that I am not full during the day but there is plenty during the night.

What I do know is feed Chloe bottles but she goes on the breast in the evening, this is usually her unsettle period so it calms her down but she does also take milk and doesnt usually have a bottle in the evening.

I know its not ideal on the BF front but something is better than nothing and it suits us

I have expressed before but part of the reason I want to breastfeed him is for the comfort he gets from it. It seems to make him happy and he obviously enjoys it.

Think I might do what you do Amy, and just put him on the evening. I was doing that before and it worked well. I always end up topping him up with formula when I want him to go to sleep. In the day it's just such a faff and I totally hate staying around the house with him and I'm not confident breastfeeding in public at all.

Thanks both for your replies.

I was doing boobie first then bottle at every feed but that was double the work lol.
Now Tabs has boobie in the night and early morning and again around lunchtime depending whats going on, i also express 1oz 3 times a day for her meds.
She is quite adapatable when it comes to feeding and like someone else said my body now makes the milk for these times xxx
