Had a private scan on Saturday at 17+3 (no reason, OH is just addicted to them, lol!).

I completely bawled my eyes out as it was just meant to be a normal/2D one, but the sonographer was lovely and she flicked it onto 3D mode without any warning.
I was talking to OH and when I turned back to the screen, there was his little face looking back at us, as beautiful as anything. Completely took me by surprise and I just lost it a little bit with tears of joy! It was amazing and we were so grateful to her as we had only paid for 2D (she said it would have been a shame not to have a look, as he was in such a good position).

So I came away both really happy, but also quite down/worried because of my placenta...

It's always been anterior and low, but at the last scan (2 weeks ago), it was 1cm away from the cervix. So I wasn't too worried as I knew it should/would probably move up as the uterus grows.
However, on Saturday it had actually moved DOWN even lower, and is now covering my cervix :-(

I know it's early days and there's still time for it to potentially move, but I can't help but worry if it's already moving in the wrong direction..!

It'll be checked again at the 20 week scan (on 7th July) and if still low, checked again at 34-ish weeks: so any final decision is a long way off yet...
But I really hoped for a nice normal labour/birth this time, wanted to try for a waterbirth even: and now all I can think about is that I'm going to end up with an Elective Caesarean Section, which absolutely terrifies me :-(

I was told at 14 weeks that the placenta was completely covering the cervix. I am hopingfor a vbac after an eemergency c section last time so I was pretty gutted. At 17 weeks I had a bleed and a scan showed it had moved and now was only reaching the cervix (it moved 2.75cm between 14 and 17 weeks). Since then there has been no further movement (last checked at 29 weeks).
Whilst I was really disappointed at first I feel quite ok about the prospect of an elective c section. It's not my first choice but not the worst thing in the world. Besides, there's still loads of time. i assume you know that 90% will move.

I was told at my 20 weeks scan that mine was low and was told I would have to go back at 32 weeks for another scan, she said by then it should have move up because 95% of the time it does. If it hasn't then I would go back again around 36 weeks for one more scan and if it still hasn't move I would have to think about a C-section but the whole time I was getting told this she kept repeating that 95% of the time it does move up and it's nothing to worry about so I'm staying positive as like you I would like a natural birth and always wanted a water birth.

Fingers crossed it soon moves up for you :)

I was told I had a low lying placenta at my 20 week scan and I have to go back in a couple days for my 30 week scan to check it. I am just focusing on the positives of the baby coming (in what ever way it has to be) and I have been thinking of all the benefits of a c section. It would be so much more convenient to schedule the birth of our child! How great would it be to not spend hours and days in the pain of labor!

Just hope for the best!
