Mold in sterlizer?

Hi ladies!

So today I bought new bottles and decided to sterilize them, we haven't used the sterilizer for about 90 days

To my surprise (we use the Avent one) the object which you use to pick up the pieces (white plastic you can ''pinch'') was covered in mold???

Could we have done something wrong? The sterilizer itself didn't seem to have mold inside, from what I saw. (my hubby immediately took it away from me and threw it away. :-/

It has probably just been put away while still damp.
