Morning Blood Sugars

This is going to sound really weird, but try Kellogs Frosties for breakfast. I've done a bit of research into this and also checked it through with the dietician who agreed....... After me eating weetabix/porridge/toast (even cornflakes!) etc my levels were high 9's, BUT after Frosties they were 6.5 :D

It's something to do with the carb load and how it evenly distributes rather than giving you a sudden sugar rush????

Try it if you want! Lots of luck everyone xxxxx

Thats really strange isn't it, you would expect with the sugar it would send them soaring! i will try frosties on monday morning and let you know how it goes :) i've found a bread which seems to keep them stable, its hovis nimble wholegrain, i had a tuna sandwich for lunch with this bread and a few strawberries and my levels were 5.9 :)

Scrambled eggs + sausage for breakfast - blood sugar level 5.7

I will try the frosties tomorrow :D

I can't tolerate any carbohydrate for breakfast, it sends my blood sugar too high. Unfortunately, the western diet seems to encourage high carb breakfast (toast, cereal, porridge etc. none of which I can have). I'm having bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes for breakfast (or bacon egg and tomato), testing my blood an hour later and then having a Muller Light yogurt mid morning to give a gentler increase in blood sugars rather than a carb spike after breakfast. My diabetic team told me not to cut out carb, but I ignored them - after all, it's only for one meal a day! It was either that or go on insulin which I wasn't willing to do for the sake of a piece of toast every morning! (even wholegrain bread with bits sends my sugars over the edge!)

Are muller light yoghurts okay to have? I was worried about the sugar in them, they are on offer at Asda at the moment, i should pick some up! :) I think everybody's body copes with different foods/carb amounts differently, If it means me not having to inject myself i will quite happily give up bread/cereal for brekkie any day :)

Sarah, try having something with carbs in before bed, toast or a rivita or even a few digestive biscits. It might stop them shooting up after breakfast. You can have any yogurts that say low fat, muller lights or shape are fine. You need to be carefull with other yogurts, some of them can be full of sugar. When checking for the clients at work i compare everything to a homemade fairy cake. There is 8g of sugar in one of them, so anything around the same is fine for a treat.

I think i'l try that, will have to get some ryvitas in tomorrow :) thanks
