Hiya

Okay so we have applied with another company as halifax were too high. They have called back saying the medical underwriters have asked for more info in a few areas. Now I hace had depression but I am out of depression but they asked if had any episodes in 5 yers which I havent so to speak but have been to see gp about low moods and feeling down when situations around me have got hard. Also i have mild fibromyalgia diagnosed earlier this yr but could have had for years which is why all general aches pains etc. and have had other minor issues. I am worried they are probably gonna reject me!

Anyone had similar problem but its gone through okay?

Xx

Anything life threatening? It sounds like they're just checking you're not taking out a mortgage knowing you will be 'using' the life insurance.

Hiya hun. We have jad the mortgage for over 4 years its just mortgage and life protection with a new company. No nothing life threatening. Depression (had meds and counselling, no suicide attempt or thoughts - im scared of dying so will do all i can to stay alive lol), ibs, fibromyalgia, a freckle bled but nothing serious gp said its a healthy looking one. Vitamin d deficiency. Water infection, couple episodes of high bp and sciatica all in pregnancy. Think thats it. Lol.

I went through massive problem with this with two things. One I tried to kill myself twice, (ended up in hospital and so on my medical record) and 2 I overdosed on Cocaine years and years ago, however its still on my records and so I couldn't say I have never taken drugs.

That said, we found one company who accepted us for Life Assurance, with clauses if death was caused by drugs or depression they woudnt pay out. I think thats all they will do, put clauses in it for you. Depression is so common, they have to take it into consideration.

Thanks. I havent been in depression for ages although have had periods of low mood etc. Never aby suicides or overdose etc. I am on antidepressants but for ibs and fibromyalgia. Lol. Will premium increase by much?

Well ours is a joint one for and it's 35 a month I think for 200k payout. I think mine was an extreme situation. I think they will ask the dr what they think of the situation, ie coping ok etc. ( I also had that) and the dr said I was fine. Also shop around though. Maybe try an independent advisor as they have access to many more products that we can necessarily get.

Thanks. Ours is with lv and is approx 30 less than we pay atm. Hubby also wants a redundancy cover which i will pay extra for elsewhere. Xx
