mothercare bed in a bag - necessary?

i've had my eye on the Daisy Lane bed in a bag it includes:
2 flat sheets
1 fleece blanket
1 coverlet
1 bumper
and it costs £86.99.

Would you or wouldn't you buy it?
I thought babies needed a bumper, but now i'm reading that they're unsafe so you should use one which allows air to circulate?
Also, what on earth is a coverlet?!
I'm trying to save money here so do you think i'd be better off buying the things i need separately?
As far as I knew all you needed was a sheet and a couple blankets?!

BTW... sorry for the repeated post, I expect many people have posted before about bedding!

that is an outrageous price imo your better off getting a couple of nice blankets and a pack of cot sheets even in mothercare would be less than £30 altogether as you wont use a coverlet which is like a duvet and bumper for quite awhile probably not until a year old by then your want something else well if your anything like me you will want something completely different by then lol x

If you#re trying to save money then nope, not necessary.

Bumpers (in the UK) are mainly not breathable ones so really for decoration as are quilts for newborns.

If you want to save money then really you just need a couple of fitted sheets, a couple of flat sheets and couple of cellular blankets......you could save on some sheets and use a grobag instead but they're really for babies over 8lb (brand dependant)

Take a look at mamas and papas or lollipop lane, I think they do good value bedding bundles or 3 for 2 on sheets and blankets

I found (too late as bought from mothercare) that matalan have you really cheap cot bedding. You can easily get everything you need MUCH cheaper than the bundles! Bumpers are only decorative and need to be removed when baby can pull/tug on them so you definitely don't need one.

You only need fitted sheets 2-4.
Flat sheets 2-4.
Cellular blankets 2-4.
You could get away with 2 of each if you don't have a sicky or nappy spilling baby, or you can tumble dry things, I's rather have one too many than one to few though!

Nope, I wouldn't buy it. The bedding for my cot consists of a mattress cover which came with the mattress, 2 fitted sheets and 2 sleeping bags.

I. Love that bedding set but definite,you not worth it!! I bought 2 plain pink sheets and some cellular blankets, that is all baby will need for the first year and in my opinion bumpers are unsafe and increase the risk of sids, and you won't need a quilt for a year so pretty much a way of them ripping you off and you will end up not using it!

Asda also have bedding, nice and soft and some is reduced in the baby event at the moment

I have the daisyblane, its absolutely beautiful and although prob some of it unnecessary we are decorating the nursery around it. I do agree its a luxury but i couldnt help it its adorable. Also the coverlet says can be used from birth as i think is cotton soni assumed cud be used as a blanket but im not sure
