We're trying SMA red today for the first time! Kathryn has taken to solids really well and has a great appetite but she's still not drinking much milk. She was on SMA gold but is only having around 12=15oz a day which i don't think is enough so we're giving the red a try!

She didn't seem to notice any difference and had 6oz which is slightly more than usual.

i put courtney on this as she was only having 14oz a day on the gold , but its made her constipated so after a whole tin were going back to gold... hv said gold is enough as long as they are getting a good diet! Courtney does have a very sensitive tummy though, took ages to find the right milk.. xx

Tommy was exactly the same, he had terrible constipation....ive never heard a baby cry so much and we had to literally pull it out...*tmi* sorry...i advise after 24 to give her a teaspoon of pure apple juice to help her, the peads at hosp advised us to go on red as tommy born early he didnt get my iron and it has more than gold..

just watch out for signs of constipation and they may go a greeney colour

h x

Thanks for the advice girls. She is taking virtually the same amount as she was of the gold. It's as if she's not interested in milk at all. She has always taken less milk than reccommended. Not sure whether she'd prefer a different brand? She's a really happy, content baby and she sleep s through so I think she is getting enough food i'm just worried that she's not getting the nutrients from the milk.

thats what I worried about, my advice is (after seeing hv yesterday) if shes happy and content and taking other foods well, dont worry!!

:hugs:

Chloe has 2 bottles of red and 2 of gold a day, works well for us

i put logan on follow on few weeks bk, theres no change in amount he drinks but ive noticed he doesnt poo as much anymore n has days where he really struggles to go, i have thought about changing him back but im going to leave him a bit longer i think as he always has had a sensative belly so thought he may just need bit more time to get use to it.xx

Since I posted this originally I've swopped her over to Aptimil 3 - the SMA red made her constipated. No problems with Aptimil so far and it's been about a week x
